Towards the end, two of these fill-ins were published to small fanfare: those by noted author Evan Dorkin and the acclaimed art team of Juan Bobillo and Marcelo Sosa.

Cheese began as an in-joke involving two friends of Dorkin who were sometimes called the " cheesy " Garcia sisters.

Owned and financed by Tom Astor ( grandson of Nancy Astor ) and latterly edited by Frank Wynne ( a former staff member of Crisis and subsequently translator of Michel Houellebecq ), it published original material but Frank also introduced later introduced reprints of American alternative comics such as Love and Rockets Bob Burden and his Flaming Carrot and Evan Dorkin strips such as Milk and Cheese.

Like Archie Goodwin's adaptation of the first Star Wars film, Dorkin worked from the original script, which included many of the deleted scenes, and portrayed Death as the archetypal skeletal figure.

Dorkin has also stated that if the series had been picked up, one of the potential plot lines would have been a " Klingon vs. Elf war " between a local Klingon camp and a Renaissance fair.
