Guitarist Bas Maas joined the live band supporting German hard rock singer Doro Pesch in 2008.

The debut album Beware the Heavens was recorded in 1999 and had a basic concept: returning to the essence of woman-fronted metal bands, throwing aside the operatic elements introduced in the 90 ’ s, and bringing back the style of singers such as Doro Pesch ( from Doro and Warlock ).

The band gained popularity and some commercial success in Europe in the mid-1980s, due also to the personality and stage presence of lead vocalist Doro Pesch.

By the end of the decade, Doro Pesch was the sole original member who remained in the band and she was forced to change the name in Doro for legal reasons.

The first nucleus of the band was formed under the name Snakebite in Düsseldorf, West Germany in 1980, and comprised Doro Pesch on vocals, Michael Bastian on guitar, Frank Rittel on bass and Thomas Franke on drums, the latter coming from the band Stallion.

Doro Pesch was also elected Best Female Singer by the readers of the music magazine Metal Forces at the end of 1984.

On 16 August 1986, Doro Pesch was the first woman to front a band at the Monsters of Rock festival at Castle Donington, England, where Warlock played on the same stage of Motörhead, Def Leppard, Ozzy Osbourne and Scorpions.

At the end of 1988, Doro Pesch remained the only original member and the only German still in the band.

Pesch continued to fight for the name, but conceded with record label requests to rename the band Doro in order to continue her career ; the first edition of the LP Force Majeure, recorded with the final formation of Warlock, was the last one to expose a sticker with the name of the band next to Doro, with the exception of the compilation Rare Diamonds of 1991.

It is notable for spawning a promo video of " Dancing With An Angel ", featuring a duet between Udo and Doro Pesch ( of Warlock ).

" Love Me Forever ", a ballad which was later covered by Doro Pesch.

On October 24, 1904, at the New Lyceum Theatre, Mrs. Gilbert made her first appearance as a star, being then in the eighty-second year of her age, in a play, by Clyde Fitch, called Granny with a young Marie Doro in one of her earliest roles.

At the start of 2009 they toured the UK with Doro, and again at the end of the year they did a UK tour.

Doro Bush Koch currently serves as co-chair of the Barbara Bush Foundation for Family Literacy along with her brother Jeb Bush.

In 2009 Sweet Savage were confirmed as the support along with Doro for Saxon ’ s Battalions Of Steel World Tour II.

A young boy named Doro, dressed in an outfit somewhat similar to Calamity King's and with a reputation for being a jinx, did appear along with other young people on a tour of the LSH HQ during the Legends of the Legion mini-series.

Another food eaten in Ethiopia is Doro wat, which is chicken stew with hard boiled eggs.

Marie Doro was born as Marie Katherine Steward to Richard Henry Stewart and Virginia Weaver in Duncannon, Pennsylvania and began her career as a theater actress under the management of Charles Frohman before progressing to motion pictures in 1915, under contract with film producer Adolph Zukor.

Although still a popular leading lady, by the early 1920s Doro became increasingly disillusioned with Hollywood and her acting career.

Doro, the band, continues to play several songs taken from the Warlock repertoire in their live shows.

Doro Pesch's voice and stage presence caught immediately the attention of fans and press and she became the principal mean of promotion for the band, as well as the only spoke-person for Warlock.

Among the most notable acts of this time were Accept, led by Udo Dirkschneider, and female-fronted Warlock led by Doro.

In the film, she is played by Doro Merande, who was in her 60s at the time.

The state of literacy being what it was at the time, however, the plantation came to be known by its phonic representation, Doro.

For her contributions to the motion picture industry, Marie Doro was awarded a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame at 1725 Vine Street in Hollywood, California, USA.

Lowell Thomas, the traveler, writer and broadcaster who later gave Lawrence of Arabia to the world, knew Doro well, saying that “ her fragile-looking type of pulchritude caused her to be cast in usually insipid, pretty-pretty rôles .” Offstage, she was intelligent, an expert on Shakespeare and Elizabethan poetry, and possessed a penetrating humor and a sometimes acid wit.
