When the stock exchange opened this morning, many dealers were quick to purchase shares in Douglas, Lockheed and United Aircraft and prices rose substantially.

The airframe was developed by Douglas Aircraft Company.

The equipment used on this flight was a Douglas Aircraft Company DC-6A four-engined propeller airliner, registration N34954, first placed into service in 1955.

Douglas Pobjoy then moved on to designing de-icing equipment for high-altitude flights.
