At the 2008 Download Festival Kid Rock was meant to appear between Seether and Disturbed on the Main Stage but pulled out at the last minute.

It has been suggested that his no-show at the Download Festival 2008 was due to a broken heart.

They performed overseas at the Download Festival with Linkin Park and System of a Down, and during Japan's Summer Sonic Festival on August 13 with Avril Lavigne, The Mars Volta, Ne-Yo, and the Strokes.

The band showcased new material at South by Southwest in 2010, and also appeared at England's Download Festival 2010 in June, as well as at the Hurricane Festival and the Southside Festival in Germany.

On March 2, 2009, it was confirmed that Faith No More would be headlining the Main Stage on June 12 at the Download Festival at Donington, England.

They also headlined the Tuborg Stage at the Download Festival, held at Donington Park, UK on Friday June 8, 2007, and closed select shows for the Sounds of the Underground tour in San Jose, California on August 3, Irvine, California on August 4, and Mesa, Arizona on August 5.

In January 2011, Danzig were announced for the 2011 Download Festival at Donington Park, England, alongside bands including Rob Zombie, Alice Cooper, and System of a Down.

The band continued to release a number of audio video Download " bundles " through their official website, featuring live music and several short documentary style videos recorded during their 2006 tour in Edinburgh and Brussels ( including the complete show on 16 February 2006 at the Ancienne Belgique, Brussels, Belgium as " Live Bundles " No. 1 to No. 5 and ( only ) 6 tracks from the show on 28 August 2006 at the " T On The Fringe " music festival, Edinburgh, Scotland, UK as " Live Bundles " No. 6 & No. 7 ).

The live album was announced on 22 February 2011 as Mirrorball, to be released in parts of Europe 3 June, the rest of Europe 6 June, and 7 June in the US ; it was announced at the same time that Def Leppard would perform at the Download Festival on 10 June 2011.

Y & T played the Download Festival, at Donington Park in June 2010.
