* Dr Evadne Hinge was half of the musical duo Hinge and Bracket

Dr. Evadne Hinge and Dame Hilda Bracket were the stage personae of the musical performance and female impersonation artists George Logan and Patrick Fyffe.

Early appearances show Dr. Evadne and Dame Hilda, ostensibly emerging from retirement to perform in concert " by popular request ".

When Patrick Fyffe died in 2002, George Logan decided that without a Hilda there would be no more Dr. Evadne Hinge.

Full Names: Dr. Evadne Mona Montpelier Hinge ( George Logan ); Dame Hilda Nemone Bracket ( Patrick Fyffe ).

A few small changes were made to some of the props in Series 3, this included the sofa and arm chairs, which were now covered in pink cushion covers, ( instead of rose patterned ones ) and Dr. Evadne herself was now wearing a slightly different pair of Brown half-moon spectacles and chain, also a different font of lettering was used for the opening and end credits.

In 1938, John Dickson Carr published The Crooked Hinge, a locked room mystery in his line of Dr. Gideon Fell detective novels.

Thus, the inspiration for Dr Hinge ’ s character as a serious musician came from Logan's formal musical background.
