At such an odd moment, Lord Krishna appeared before Draupadi and Pandavas and said that he was very hungry.

Jayadratha then said “ thou canst not frighten us ( he was with several other Kings when he saw and abducted Draupadi ) now with these threats.

Dharmaja urged Bhima to spare Jayadratha ’ s life for the sake of Dussala and Gandhari, much to the indignation of Draupadi. And that highly intelligent lady said to her two husbands, Bhima and Arjuna with indignation mixed with modesty, ' If you care to do what is agreeable to me, you must slay the chief of the Saindhava clan!

Draupadi grew exasperated and said she had prayed to Krishna precisely because she had no food left to give.

When she questioned Krishna about everything that had happened to her, he reassured her: “ Soon wilt thou, O Draupadi, behold the ladies of Bharata's race weep as thou dost.

And possessed of the prowess of Indra, they had been filled with fury at the insult offered to Draupadi.

Now in an emotional appeal to the elders present in the forum, Draupadi repeatedly questions the legality of the right of Yudhishthira to place her at stake when he himself had lost his freedom and as a consequence did not possess any property in the first place.

Descending from his chariot to remove the wheel, he requested Arjuna to wait, as the etiquette of battle allowed ; but Krishna told Arjuna that Karna has no right to refer to etiquette at this point, having violated those same rules himself when killing Abhimanyu, participating in the laksha-griha conspiracy, assisting Duryodhan in the game of dice and insulting Draupadi in the Hastinapur court.

Though initially he was tempted to flee, he mastered himself and remained after hearing the voices of his beloved brothers and Draupadi calling out to him, asking him to stay with them in their misery.

The brothers followed Narada ’ s advice on a sharing arrangement with regard to Draupadi: each brother will have exclusive rights over her for a year, after which the mantle will shift to the next brother.

During this period, the Pandavas obtained their food by means of the Akshaya Patra, which would become exhausted for the day once Draupadi finished her meal.

When the brothers took Draupadi to introduce her to their mother, they announced to Kunti that they had arrived with an excellent " alms ".

Yudhisthira fell for the ruse and bet Draupadi, losing her too.

Durvasa being an irascible sage had to be served or he would curse Draupadi and her husbands.

When Krishna visits the family, he explains to Draupadi that her unique position as the wife of five brothers results from a certain incident in her previous birth, She was born as Nalayani ( daughter of Nala and Damayanti ) She had in that lifetime prayed to Shiva to grant her a husband with fourteen desired qualities.

Karna was a suitor for Draupadi at her swayamvara.

This insult by Draupadi thus was one of the reasons of her downfall in the court room after the ' dice game ' course.

Draupadi was very faithful and loved the Pandavas from the deep of her heart though she had special love for Arjuna who had won her hand.

Duryodhana felt extremely insulted that Draupadi and her maids saw his embarrassing predicament.

Then to the horror of everybody present, Duryodhana orders Dushasana to disrobe Draupadi and he tries to disrobe Draupadi of her sari.

While Durvasa and his disciples were away at the banks of the river bathing, Draupadi prayed to Lord Krishna for help.

Finally as the blind king Dhrithrasthra realized that this humiliation could prompt Draupadi to curse his sons, he intervened, apologizing to Draupadi for the behavior of his sons and turned the winnings of the dice game back over to the Pandava brothers, releasing them from the bondage of slavery.

Draupadi counseled Jayadratha to run to Yudhisthira and to beg for forgiveness.

And the slender-waisted Draupadi of every feature perfectly faultless, and whose body emitteth a fragrance like unto that of the blue lotus for two full miles around.

Upon hearing of the Pandavas ' supposed death at Varanavata he set up a swayamvara for Draupadi.

Yudhishthira walks into the trap and to the horror of everybody present, puts Draupadi as a bet for the next round.

Indeed, when Draupadi needed Krishna ’ s protection and fervently prayed for his help, he came to the rescue and gave her unlimited cloth.

Draupadi was a multifaceted personality: she could be fiery and angry when the situation called for it, but she still had a compassionate nature.

Owing to her marriage to five husbands, Draupadi had to live with each one of them turn-by-turn for one year each.

The reason for the fall of Draupadi is quoted as she being more doting towards Arjuna than the rest of the brothers.

To others it would appear like applauding the fight, but as Krishna intended, Bhima was reminded of an oath he had taken after the game of dice to crush Duryodhana's groin as retribution for insults to Draupadi.

Duryodhana was not to blame for the disrobing since it was Karna not Duryodhana who ordered Draupadi be disrobed.

Karna was a suitor for Draupadi at her swayamvara, or her choosing of a marriage partner.

Karna had the five perfect qualities of a husband for Draupadi, but being with Duryodhana nullified these and allowed Arjuna to take her instead.

He is criticised for insulting Draupadi in the Hastinapur court and for supporting Duryodhan in his act of dishonoring her.
