In late 2007, Dreamer took part in the ECW brand's elimination chase to name a number one contender to the ECW Championship.

On the August 26 episode of Raw, Van Dam also unified the WWE Hardcore Championship into the WWE Intercontinental Championship by defeating Hardcore Champion Tommy Dreamer in a hardcore title unification match.

Raven and Dreamer had a multi-year ongoing feud with a great deal of matches ; Dreamer got over as an underdog face showing resilience and tenacity in the spite of Raven coming out victorious every single time and also, he defeated Tommy Dreamer to retain the ECW World Heavyweight Championship in Tokyo Japan on August 13th 1996 while he was the world champion.

This did not last long either, as was banished from Raw after losing a match to former ECW Championship Wrestling alumni Tommy Dreamer on June 24, 2002.

Also, in 1995, Heath appeared in Extreme Championship Wrestling ( ECW ) for a short period, feuding with Tommy Dreamer over Dreamer's affiliation with Heath's real-life wife Luna.

Teaming with multiple people, including Tommy Dreamer, The Sandman, New Jack, and Nova, he defeated them to win the ECW World Tag Team Championship with his partner Balls Mahoney on two occasions in 1999.

On November 7, Test defeated Tommy Dreamer to earn a spot in the Extreme Elimination Chamber at December to Dismember for the ECW World Championship.

Upon debuting in ECW, he initially supported the fan favorites, but then turned on Tommy Dreamer during a match in which Douglas was defending the Tag Team Championship alongside him on behalf of Johnny Gunn against Kevin Sullivan and The Tasmaniac.

Awesome continued to be a major factor in ECW early in 2000, including teaming with Raven to beat Tanaka and Tommy Dreamer for the ECW World Tag Team Championship.

After ECW closed its doors, Dreamer spent time in various independent leagues throughout the country, such as Jersey All Pro Wrestling and Combat Zone Wrestling before he signed with the World Wrestling Federation ( WWF ).

When the angle ended in November, Dreamer was sent to the WWF's " farm territory " Heartland Wrestling Association.

As 2003 and 2004 went on, Dreamer was used less and less on WWE television, and they began allowing him to take independent bookings and work as color commentator for their developmental territories, Ohio Valley Wrestling and Deep South Wrestling.

In 2005, Dreamer was a major part of the ECW One Night Stand " reunion show " pay-per-view held under the World Wrestling Entertainment banner.

In September 2003, following a match with Tommy Dreamer on Sunday Night Heat, Yun was signed to a three year developmental deal with the renamed World Wrestling Entertainment ( WWE ).

After the company was renamed to World Wrestling Entertainment in May 2002, Hugger returned to WWE television on the June 30, 2002 episode of Sunday Night Heat under the ring name Johnny " The Bull " Stamboli, losing via disqualification to Tommy Dreamer.

Awesome ( a WCW employee and ECW champion ) appeared at an ECW event, accompanied by WCW's head of security, where he lost the title to Tazz ( a World Wrestling Federation employee ), who lost it a week later to Tommy Dreamer ( a full time ECW wrestler ).

After Michael Fay was arrested in Singapore and sentenced to a caning, ECW head booker Paul Heyman decided to capitalize on the publicity by holding a Singapore Cane match between Dreamer and The Sandman — with the loser having to take 10 lashes.

The feud eventually ended with Sandman planning to announce his retirement at an ECW show, only to attack Dreamer and reveal he was never actually blind.

Raven's entrance into ECW had him accompanied by Beulah McGillicutty, an overweight girl from their kayfabe childhood who had a crush on Dreamer and was now a Penthouse Pet.

Dreamer and Raven ( and Raven's Nest ) feuded for two years with Dreamer never getting a win over Raven until Raven's last match in ECW, a Loser Leaves Town match at Wrestlepalooza 1997.

When speaking of his title reigns on The Rise and Fall of ECW documentary produced by WWE Home Video, Dreamer is quoted as saying:

Dreamer stayed with ECW until it folded in 2001, defeating C. W.

When the ECW brand officially launched on the Sci Fi channel, Dreamer and the Sandman were put into one of the brands first feuds, an " old school versus new school " feud, against Test and Mike Knox.

On March 23, 2005, Storm came out of retirement to participate in a six-man tag team match with Joey Mercury and Johnny Nitro against fellow ECW alumni Tommy Dreamer and The Dudley Boyz.

Van Dam started a new rivalry with Tommy Dreamer, who wanted to gain revenge on Van Dam for his betrayal of ECW.

Along with fellow ECW alumnus Tommy Dreamer, Van Dam returned to WWF television on the July 9, 2001 episode of Raw in Atlanta, Georgia as a heel, and attacking WWF wrestlers Kane and Chris Jericho.
