The lily, a symbol of spring, was officially incorporated as Easter Seals ' logo in 1952 for its association with resurrection and new life.

Echinopsis is a large genus of cacti native to South America, sometimes known as hedgehog cacti, sea-urchin cactus or Easter lily cactus.

Lilium longiflorum, ( Japanese: テッポウユリ, Teppouyuri ) often called the Easter lily or November lily, is a plant native to the Ryukyu Islands ( Japan ) and Taiwan.

Though an egg appears to be like the stone of a tomb, a bird hatches from it with life ; similarly, the Easter egg, for Christians, is a reminder that Jesus rose from the grave, and that those who believe will also experience eternal life.

Each household also brings an Easter basket to church, filled not only with Easter eggs but also with other Paschal foods such as paskha, kulich or Easter breads, and these are blessed by the priest as well.

In French, the name of Easter Pâques also derives from the Latin word but the s following the a has been lost and the two letters have been transformed into a â with a circumflex accent by elision.

Their starting point in determining the date of Orthodox Easter is also 21 March, but according to the Julian reckoning, which currently corresponds to 3 April in the Gregorian calendar.

In determining the date of the Jewish Passover a lunisolar calendar is also used, and because Easter always falls on a Sunday it usually falls up to a week after the first day of Passover ( Nisan 15 in the Hebrew calendar ).

At a summit in Aleppo, Syria, in 1997, the World Council of Churches ( WCC ) proposed a reform in the calculation of Easter which would have replaced the present divergent practices of calculating Easter with modern scientific knowledge taking into account actual astronomical instances of the spring equinox and full moon based on the meridian of Jerusalem, while also following the Council of Nicea position of Easter being on the Sunday following the full moon.

He also played organ at Philadelphia's Christ Church and composed or edited a number of hymns and psalms including: " A Collection of Psalm Tunes with a few Anthems and Hymns Some of them Entirely New, for the Use of the United Churches of Christ Church and St. Peter's Church in Philadelphia " ( 1763 ), " A psalm of thanksgiving, Adapted to the Solemnity of Easter: To be performed on Sunday, the 30th of March, 1766, at Christ Church, Philadelphia " ( 1766 ), and " The Psalms of David, with the Ten Commandments, Creed, Lord's Prayer, & c. in Metre " ( 1767 ).

* Tsoureki, a traditional Christmas and Easter sweet bread also known as ' Lambropsomo ' ( Easter bread ), flavored with " mahlepi ", the intensely aromatic extract of the stone of the St. Lucie Cherry.
