Warith Deen Mohammed eventually discontinued the celebration of Survival Day for his community and eventually returned to the celebration of Saviours ' Day with the emphasis being on the history of the Nation of Islam and Elijah Muhammad and not W. D. Fard.

Minister Farrakhan changed it to Saviours ' Day to add Elijah Muhammad as a saviour along with Master Fard Muhammad.

It generally resonates better with existing Muslim views than with Christianity: it foretells the coming of Muhammad by name ; rather than describing the crucifixion of Jesus, it describes him being raised up into heaven, similar to the description of Elijah in 2 Kings, Chapter 2 ; and it calls Jesus a " prophet " whose mission was restricted to the " house of Israel ".

An official Nation of Islam platform referred to as " The Muslim Program " was written by Elijah Muhammad in his book Message to the Blackman in America ( 1965 ).

This was, Elijah Muhammad claims, long before Adam.
