* Continuum, a series of four science fiction anthologies edited by Roger Elwood in 1974 – 75

Roger Elwood ( January 13, 1943 – February 2, 2007 ) was an American science fiction writer and editor, perhaps best known for having edited a large number of anthologies and collections for a variety of publishers in the early 1970s.

Before being reprinted in Ellison's book in 1996, the original script of " The City on the Edge of Forever " had been published in 1976 in " Six Science Fiction Plays ," edited by Roger Elwood ( ISBN 0-671-48766-3 ).

It was later used in the film Blues Brothers 2000 ( 1998 ), where it was played during a scene where Elwood Blues ( Dan Aykroyd ) and Mack ( John Goodman ) leave two members of the Russian mob unconscious in an alley.

In Elwood, the two highways respectively follow Ripley Street and Smith Street.

Interestingly, the barman and all regulars accept the existence of Harvey, and the barman asks how they both are and unflinchingly accepts an order from Elwood for two Martinis.

Hester had two daughters with photographer Mardi Sommerfield ; they lived in the suburb of Elwood in Melbourne, Victoria.

* An episode of the children's TV series Arthur titled " The Curse of the Grebes " has Elwood City's baseball team losing two of its games in the world championship series due to events based directly on Bucky Dent's homer and Bill Buckner's error.

Around the time the SF anthology market was bottoming out, Elwood moved on to Laser Books, an ultimately unsuccessful attempt by romance publishing giant Harlequin Books to systematize and regularize SF into a uniform series of novels by diverse authors.

A review of Elwood's 1976 anthology Six Science Fiction Plays in the Star Trek fan magazine Enterprise Incidents remarked that except for the inclusion of the original teleplay of the episode " The City on the Edge of Forever " by Harlan Ellison, the book was " another excursion into mediocrity by Roger Elwood ".

Additionally, Nielsen Hayden discusses speculation about the financial details of some of Elwood's projects " that by all indications should have had generous budgets " but were " peculiarly long on authors who had slight or nonexistent publishing credentials outside of Roger Elwood projects.

" She goes on to accuse Elwood of " singlehandedly breaking the story collection / anthology market ".

The lake was named after Elwood Mead ( January 16, 1858 – January 26, 1936 ), who was the commissioner of the U. S. Bureau of Reclamation from 1924 to 1936 during the planning and construction of the Boulder Canyon Project that created the dam and lake.
