In 1957 a minuature camera by the name of WRECISS ( Weapons Research Establishment camera interception single-shot ) was designed and developed by the WRE at Woomera and manufactured by the Fairey Aviation Co of Australasia Pty Ltd, at Salisbury, South Australia.

Assembly was undertaken at Salisbury, South Australia by the Special Projects Division of Fairey.

At the 1954 Farnborough Airshow, Fairey Australia displayed a massive missile, which resembled the RTV-1.

Fairey Engineering had the sales agency for all countries outside the US, and was also been appointed by the Australian Department of Supply's to assist in the introduction of the Malkara to operational service and to design and produce modifications.

* March 10 – Fairey Aviation test pilot Peter Twiss sets a new airspeed record in the Fairey Delta 2, also becoming the first person to exceed 1, 000 mph ( 1, 610 km / hr ) in level flight.

Boulton Paul also built the Fairey Barracuda and did conversions of the Vickers Wellington.

The squadron also operated a few old Fairey Gordons for night patrols in Egypt.

" Andre The Giant Has a Posse " is also the title of a 1995 documentary short by Helen Stickler, which was the first documentary to feature Shepard Fairey and chronicle his influential street art campaign.

827 Naval Air Squadron was also stationed at Yeovilton operating Fairey Albacores and later Barracudas starting in May 1943, becoming the first squadron to receive Barracudas in any substantial number.

Starting with the Fairey Gyrodyne, this type of aircraft later evolved into the much larger twin-engined Fairey Rotodyne, that used tipjets to power the rotor on take-off and landing but which then used two Napier Eland turboprops driving conventional propellers mounted on substantial wings to provide propulsion, the wings serving to unload the rotor during horizontal flight.

Famous biplanes include the Sopwith Camel, Antonov An-2, Beechcraft Staggerwing, Boeing Stearman, Bristol Bulldog, Curtiss JN-4, de Havilland Tiger Moth, Fairey Swordfish, Pitts Special and the Wright Flyer.

Helicopters such as the Lynx and Westland Wasp have been deployed on smaller vessels since 1964, taking over the roles once performed by biplanes such as the Fairey Swordfish.

On display there is a full-size replica Fairey Swordfish, along with historic items and memorabilia.

Westland did progress as a private venture a large space-frame cargo helicopter design using a Sikorksy rotor head-the Westland Westminster-but this was dropped later in favour of the government funded Fairey Rotodyne.
