Two committees of members of the Advisory Board constitute the committees of selection -- one for the selection of Fellows from Canada, the United States, and the English-speaking Caribbean area and one for the selection of Fellows from the Latin American republics and the Republic of the Philippines.

Jenner married Catherine Kingscote ( died 1815 from tuberculosis ) in March 1788 after meeting her while he and other Fellows were experimenting with balloons.

The Franklin Fellows Program was established in 2006 by the DoS to bring in mid-level executives from the private sector and non-profit organizations to advise the Department and to work on projects.

A passageway from the Front Quadrangle leads through to the College's Fellows ' Garden, in which stands the library, designed by Gilbert Scott in the 13th century style.

In March 2007, the Order announced without prior discussion to the Fellows or students its intention to withdraw from its ministry as a Permanent Private Hall of the University, for financial and personnel reasons and because the University appeared to be insisting on a more collegiate model for the Permanent Private Halls which, it was argued, would have made it untenable for the Friars, given their declining numbers of suitable personnel.

But the facts about our Advisory Board and its members' duties are only one of several sets of facts about the quest for advice, both reliable and imaginative, on which to base our selections of Fellows.

The series is also notable for helping launch the careers of several cartoonists, such as Craig McCracken, Seth MacFarlane, Butch Hartman, Bob Boyle, Scott Fellows, and Rob Renzetti.

Most of the other buildings are Victorian or later and include: St. Alban Quad ( or " Stubbins "), designed by Basil Champneys, built on the site of the medieval St. Alban Hall ( elements of the older façade are incorporated into the part that faces onto Merton Street ); the Grove building, built in 1864 by William Butterfield but " chastened " in the 1930s ; the buildings beyond the Fellows ' Garden called " Rose Lane "; several buildings north of Merton Street, including a real tennis court, and the Old Warden's Lodgings ( designed by Champneys in 1903 ); and a new quadrangle in Holywell Street, some distance away from the college.

In the early 1410s several Fellows of Oriel took part in the disturbances accompanying Archbishop Arundel's attempt to stamp out Lollardy in the University ; the Lollard belief that religious power and authority came through piety and not through the hierarchy of the Church particularly inflamed passions in Oxford, where its proponent, John Wycliffe, had been head of Balliol.

On the morning of May 24, 1938, a serious fire burned several small businesses to the ground, including the Thorp Hotel, and a mercantile along with the clubhouse on the second floor above it which was home to the Thorp Odd Fellows and Rebekahs lodges.

Built in 1910, the two-story building was originally a one-story structure housing an Odd Fellows Lodge in the back room with the front of the building rented out to several merchants, including a popular grocery store.

Nitze Senior Fellows visit St. Mary's College several times throughout their assigned year to give lectures and meet with Nitze Scholars and other St. Mary's College students.

Edwin R. Fellows ( May 29, 1865 – May 21, 1945 ) was an American inventor and entrepreneur from Torrington, Connecticut who designed and built a new type of gear shaper in 1896 and, with the mentoring of James Hartness, left the Jones & Lamson Machine Company to co-found the Fellows Gear Shaper Company in Springfield, Vermont, which became one of the leading firms in the gear-cutting segment of the machine tool industry.

One such lodger was James Hartness, who was to become a machine-tool entrepreneur in Springfield, Vermont and who befriended Fellows and ultimately convinced him to follow career opportunities in the Springfield machine-tool industry with his firm, the Jones & Lamson Machine Company ( J & L ).

Fellows moved to Springfield in 1889, working first at a screw-making machine before being transferred to the drafting department at J & L.
