Jacques Ferron was born in Louiseville, Quebec, the son of Joseph-Alphonse Ferron and Adrienne Caron.

In 1971, Foisy changed her name to Ferron when one of her friends had a dream in which she was called Ferron.

However, contemporary writers such as Jacques Ferron ( Contes du pays incertain, 1962 ) in Quebec and Antonine Maillet in Acadian New Brunswick ( La Sagouine, 1974, and Pélagie-la-Charette, 1979 ), rely extensively on folk humour and popular culture.

The song is also alluded to in the lyrics of " Independence Day " by Ferron on the Driver CD: " There's a Paul Simon song that just tears me apart ... about the Statue of Liberty and hole in a heart.

In 1984, he toured in the US with fellow Canadian Ferron, with whom he performed a duet on the song " Proud Crowd / Pride Cried " for her album, Shadows on a Dime.

They became fast friends and supported each other's artistic endeavours, as well as appearing together on a number of projects as backing vocalists, including the album Phantom Center by Ferron.

Ferron is a city in Emery County, Utah, United States.

Jacques Ferron, a Québécois writer, is her elder brother, while Madeleine Ferron, also a writer, is their sister.

Jacques Ferron ( January 20, 1921-April 22, 1985 ) was a Canadian physician and author.

Her first appearance in the United States was at the 1985 Michigan Womyn's Music Festival's Day stage singing a duet with another Canadian singer-songwriter, Ferron.

Members included Marcel Barbeau, Roger Fauteux, Claude Gauvreau, Jean-Paul Riopelle, Pierre Gauvreau, Fernand Leduc, Jean-Paul Mousseau, and Marcelle Ferron and Françoise Sullivan.

Evidence of these people can still be found in numerous pictograph and petroglyph panels, such as those in Temple Mountain Wash, Muddy Creek, Ferron Box, Black Dragon Canyon, and Buckhorn Wash-all sites listed in the National Register of Historic Places.

With a shortage of sufficient land and water in Sanpete County and a strong desire by LDS Church leaders to acquire unoccupied land in the region before non-Mormons did, young families began moving into Castle Valley in the fall of 1877 to take up homesteads in what would become the settlements of Huntington, Ferron, Castle Dale, and Orangeville.

During Spanish times the name Rafael was also given to the present Ferron Creek.

In 1873, A. D. Ferron, the surveyor, named this creek after himself, but prior to this time it was known as Rafael.

The Ute Indians called the Ferron Creek the Cabulla which refers to the small edible part of a cactus pear.

A canal to carry water from Ferron Creek was completed in 1896.

In 1902, the President of the Emery Stake, Reuben C. Miller, sent the bishopric of Ferron to select a permanent spot for the town of Kingsville.

Ferron was originally populated by Mormon Settlers in 1877.
