The On Time ( also known as the Chappy Ferry ) is so named because the boats running the route were built " on time " without delays in construction.

U. S. 9 runs an east – west path through Sussex County, running east from U. S. Route 13 in Laurel, passing through Georgetown, east to Lewes, where it leads to the Cape May – Lewes Ferry, which carries U. S. 9 across the Delaware Bay to New Jersey.

In the lower valley, on the eastern side, U. S. Route 340 also runs north-south, starting from Waynesboro in the south, running through the Page Valley to Front Royal, and on to Harpers Ferry, where it exits the valley.

Richmond Terrace, running from the Staten Island Ferry to the Goethals Bridge is the oldest established road in Staten Island.

River Neath () is a river in south Wales running south west from its source in the Brecon Beacons National Park to its mouth at Baglan Bay below Briton Ferry on the east side of Swansea Bay.

The Bowling Green – South Ferry Shuttle, which ran weekdays and at first also late nights, continued to use the inner loop, running to the west platform at Bowling Green until 1977, when the inner platform was closed and Lexington Avenue trains stopped using the outer loop.

The Fairbourne Railway ( Welsh: Rheilffordd y Friog ) is a gauge miniature railway running for from the village of Fairbourne on the Mid-Wales coast, alongside the beach to the end of a peninsula at Barmouth Ferry, where there is a connection with a pedestrian ferry across the Mawddach estuary to the seaside resort of Barmouth ().

At the time, the route went between Malden Square and Chelsea Square via Everett Square, running north from Everett Square on Broadway and northwest on Ferry Street to Malden Square.

New World First Ferry ( Macau ) provides services between Tsim Sha Tsui and Macau for 17 hours daily, at a frequency of up to every 30 minutes.

Heli Express operates regular helicopter service between Macao Heliport ( ICAO: VMMH ) on the Macau Ferry Terminal in Macau and the Shun Tak Heliport.

One of the better known ferries was the Mormon Ferry across the North Platte near the future site of Fort Caspar in Wyoming which operated between 1848 and 1852 and the Green River ferry near Fort Bridger which operated from 1847 to 1856.

The Bohai Train Ferry provides a shortcut between the Liaodong Peninsula and Shandong.

( A physical connection between Omaha, Nebraska and the statutory Eastern terminus of the Pacific road at Council Bluffs, Iowa located immediately across the Missouri River was also not finally established until the opening of UPRR railroad bridge across the river on March 25, 1873, prior to which transfers were made by ferry operated by the Council Bluffs & Nebraska Ferry Company.

It is one of only two U. S. highways with a ferry connection ( the Cape May – Lewes Ferry, between Lewes, Delaware, and Cape May, New Jersey ); the other being US 10.

U. S. 9 was extended to Delaware by way of the Cape May – Lewes Ferry in the 1970s, replacing Delaware Route 28 between Laurel and Georgetown and Delaware Route 18 between Georgetown and Lewes.
