The Rolling Stones responded to Sgt Pepper later in the year with Their Satanic Majesties Request, and Pink Floyd produced what is usually seen as their best psychedelic work The Piper at the Gates of Dawn.

Individual session credits notwithstanding, what's indisputable is that the Stax house band ( Cropper, Jackson, Jones, and Steinberg, along with Cropper's Mar-Keys bandmate, bassist Donald “ Duck ” Dunn ; keyboardist Isaac Hayes ; and various horn players, most frequently Floyd Newman, Wayne Jackson and Andrew Love ) would set a standard for soul music.

Pink Floyd also can be considered a band with two frontmen, as both the guitarist Dave Gilmour and the bassist Roger Waters sang and wrote most of the songs.

In 1969 he was recruited to be the group's bassist for their second album, Volume Two and, with Mike Ratledge and Robert Wyatt, he took part in a recording session for a solo album of Syd Barrett's ( formerly of Pink Floyd, with whom the early Soft Machine had regularly gigged ).

In 1987, Ladd appeared on Pink Floyd bassist Roger Waters ' second solo album Radio K. A. O. S., portraying a fictional disk jockey named " DJ Jim ".

* June 12 – Pink Floyd announce that they will reunite with former bassist Roger Waters, who left the band in 1985, on July 2 for the Live 8 London concert.

White was invited by the former Pink Floyd bassist Roger Waters to perform in another take of The Wall, in 1990, by the ruins of the Berlin Wall, along with other guest artists.

Pigs on the Wing is a Pink Floyd tribute supergroup composed of STS9 bassist David Murphy, Matt Weiss ( Collective Efforts ), Coley Dennis ( Maserati ), Mike Albanese ( Cinemechanica ), Alfredo Lapuz Jr ( Velveteen Pink, Immuzikation ), Stanley Walker ( Velveteen Pink ), Count Kellam, and Tim Conley.

His son is the session bassist, Guy Pratt, who also played with Pink Floyd in their later live performances.

Included in the line-up were Pink Floyd, reunited with former bassist / lyricist Roger Waters for the first time in over 24 years.

A second album followed in 2001, Psycho-Narco, with a new bass player Gav Gray who replaced longtime bassist Floyd London.

By 1974 Willy DeVille ( under the name Billy Borsay ) was singing in a band with drummer Thomas R. " Manfred " Allen, Jr., bassist Rubén Sigüenza, guitarist Robert McKenzie ( a. k. a. Fast Floyd ), and Ritch Colbert on keyboards.

Such iconic and diverse shows as Rowan and Martin's Laugh-In, Saturday Night Live, The Uncle Floyd Show, Captain Kangaroo, Sesame Street, The Electric Company, and TV hosts such as David Letterman and Craig Ferguson have been influenced by Kovacs.

He immediately signed Janis Joplin with Big Brother & the Holding Company, and Columbia went on to sign Laura Nyro, Electric Flag, Santana, The Chambers Brothers, Bruce Springsteen, Chicago, Billy Joel, Blood, Sweat & Tears, Loggins & Messina and Pink Floyd.

With a launch release by The Edgar Broughton Band, it was home to such classic artists as Deep Purple, Pink Floyd, The Move, Electric Light Orchestra, Barclay James Harvest, Climax Blues Band, Syd Barrett, Kevin Ayers and Little River Band ; Harvest also promoted more experimental styles of music.

Although the company was merged with another in 1931 to form Electric and Musical Industries Limited ( EMI ), the company title as " The Gramophone Company Limited " continued in use in the UK into the 1970s, for instance on sleeves and labels of records ( such as The Dark Side of the Moon by Pink Floyd, vinyl copies of which bear the copyright notice "© 1973 The Gramophone Company, Ltd .").

He performed the lead vocals for many songs as Floyd of the Electric Mayhem, Little Jerry of Little Jerry and the Monotones, Slim Wilson of Lubbock Lou and his Jughuggers, and a number of Anything Muppet bands.

While booking many of the same bands that had played the Electric Circus, Graham particularly used the venue — and its West Coast counterpart — to establish in the US British bands such as The Who, Pink Floyd, The Jimi Hendrix Experience, Cream and Led Zeppelin.

Tom Wolfe describes the LSD-influenced music of The Doors, The Jimi Hendrix Experience, Pink Floyd, Iron Butterfly, Big Brother & The Holding Company, Cream, Vanilla Fudge, Jefferson Airplane, Ultimate Spinach, Blue Cheer, Quicksilver Messenger Service, The Great Society, Stone Garden and the Grateful Dead as " acid rock " in his book about Ken Kesey and the Acid Tests, The Electric Kool-Aid Acid Test.

The sketch ends with Floyd sadly stating that a reunion of the Electric Mayhem is impossible without Animal and Zoot, as Dr. Teeth plays a piano duet with Rowlf the Dog and a sickly Janice coughs in the background.

Taurus pedals were used by a range of rock, metal, soul, R & B and fusion performers, including Cold Chisel and Michael Jackson on Stacy Lattisaw's 1980 song " You Don't Love Me Anymore ", Ritchie Blackmore, Pink Floyd, Neurosis, Electric Light Orchestra, Yngwie Malmsteen, Geddy Lee and Alex Lifeson from Rush, Styx, U2, John Paul Jones from Led Zeppelin, Jon Anderson and Chris Squire from Yes, Jon Camp of Renaissance, Sting and Andy Summers of The Police, Mike Rutherford, Steve Hackett & Daryl Stuermer of Genesis, Francis Buchholz of the Scorpions, Justin Harris of Menomena, Troy Sanders of Mastodon, and Stefan Lessard of Dave Matthews Band.
