Folk music is primarily distinguished by several styles.

In early 1964, Benny and Christina joined a group with the odd name " Elverkets Spelmanslag " (" The Electricity Board Folk Music Group "), who by no means was a folk music ensemble: the name was a punning reference to their electric instruments.

Like Mississippi John Hurt, he was welcomed into the music scene of the 1960s and played at the Newport Folk Festival in 1964, the New York Folk Festival in July 1965, and the October 1967 European tour of the American Folk Festival along with Skip James and Bukka White.

Folk Art is characterized by a naive style, in which traditional rules of proportion and perspective are not employed.

Folk rock was ( to them ) what they had already been producing: American or American style singer-songwriter material played on rock instruments, as undertaken by Dylan and the Byrds from 1965.

This encounter sparked the interest of Ashley Hutchings who began extensive research in English Folk Dance and Song Society Library at Cecil Sharp House and the result was the band ’ s seminal Liege and Lief ( 1969 ) which combined traditional songs and tunes with some written by the band in a similar style, all played on a combination of electric instruments with Swarbrick ’ s acoustic fiddle, setting the template for electric folk.

Folk dances are numerous in number and style, and vary according to the local tradition of the respective state, ethnic or geographic regions.

However, Austropop is not much of a specific style, it is more a trademark of origin, because musicians of various styles, such as rock, Neue Deutsche Welle, New Folk and more recently perhaps Pop, are counted as Austropop artists, while Schlager is not.

Architectural styles within the district include Craftsman Bungalow, Queen Anne, Stick style, Folk Victorian, Colonial Revival, American Foursquare and Neoclassical Revival.

Founded by Folk musicians Frank Hamilton and Win Stracke, the School opened in the Old Town neighborhood of Chicago in 1957 at 333 West North Avenue ( the original location has since been demolished and replaced by a non-descript strip mall with the same address ), offering guitar and banjo lessons in a communal teaching style and hosting performances by well-known folk musicians.
