In 2011, Yang's daughter, Naomi Yang, of the band Galaxie 500, said that the band used the image without permission or payment to her father.

Earlier acts such as Galaxie 500 and American Music Club were hugely influential but are not generally considered slowcore acts.

In June 2010 Dean Wareham announced on his website that he would be going on an autumn tour under the moniker " Dean Wareham plays Galaxie 500 ," where he would, as the moniker suggests, only play Galaxie 500 songs.

The 1960 Edsel Ranger four-door hardtop model used the thin-pillar Ford Fairlane four-door sedan roofline, as opposed to the " square " roofline used on the corresponding Ford four-door hardtop, which was exclusive to the Galaxie line.

Luna was a dream pop / indie pop band formed in 1991 by Dean Wareham after the breakup of Galaxie 500, with Stanley Demeski and Justin Harwood ( Demeski formerly of The Feelies and Harwood formerly of New Zealand band The Chills ).

In 1991, after the end of Galaxie 500's US tour supporting the Cocteau Twins, Dean Wareham told his bandmates Damon Krukowski and Naomi Yang that he was quitting the band.
