The last living homesteader from the Golva area, Mrs. George ( Emma ) Geary, died in 1978, still owning her homestead and the house on it, although she had left the homestead in 1958 after breaking her hip.

People who died from unnatural causes ( i. e., accidents ) are cremated, while those who died from natural causes are buried ( Geary 2003: 102-103 ).

Chisholm died of food poisoning after eating rancid bear meat at Left Hand Spring, near the site of present Geary, Oklahoma, on March 4, 1868.

Ted Geary died on May 19, 1960.

On February 8, 1873, less than three weeks after leaving the governor's post, Geary was fatally stricken with a heart attack while preparing breakfast for his infant son in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania.

Each attack was repulsed mainly owing to the fine example and personal gallantry of Second Lieutenant Geary.

Though Geary and his officers expected an attack and had thrown out pickets, its suddenness took them by surprise.

Named for its original location at the intersection of Fillmore Street and Geary Boulevard, it lies on the boundary of the Western Addition and the Pacific Heights neighborhoods.

Geary County, Kansas, was renamed in honor of John W. Geary in 1889 ( previously named Davis County for Jefferson Davis, it was renamed at the insistence of its citizens ; in 1893, the county electorate rejected an attempt to restore the Davis County name ), as is Geary Boulevard in San Francisco, a major artery in that city, Geary Avenue on the field at Gettysburg, Geary Street in New Cumberland, Pennsylvania ( where Geary owned a home ), Geary Street in Harrisburg, the capital of Pennsylvania, and Geary Hall, an undergraduate dorm building in East Halls at Pennsylvania State University.

In March 1964, Rose opened an Orthodox bookstore next to the ROCOR cathedral on Geary Boulevard in San Francisco, which was under construction at the time.

After two years at the Fillmore Auditorium, because of a deteriorating neighborhood and the modest capacity of the hall, Bill Graham moved the venue in July 1968 from the original building at 1805 Geary Boulevard to the Carousel Ballroom at 10 South Van Ness Avenue, at the corner of Market Street which was renamed Fillmore West in contrast with Graham's Fillmore East auditorium in the East Village in New York City.

The film, co-starring Anthony Geary, Barbara Carrera and Kim Cattrall, was a Top 10 Nielsen hit.

The Geary Act, besides renewing the exclusion of Chinese laborers for another 10 years, also outlined provisions that required Chinese already in the U. S. to possess “ certificates of residence ” ( as well as “ certificates of identity ” after the McCreary amendment was added ) that served as proof that they entered the U. S. legally and had the right to remain in the country.

During a German attempt to recapture the hill on the night of 20 – 21 April, four Victoria Crosses were won by Edward Dwyer, B. Handley Geary, George Roupell and Geoffrey Woolley.

On 20 and 21 April 1915 on Hill 60 near Ypres, Belgium, Second Lieutenant Geary led his men across exposed open ground swept by fierce enemy fire to join survivors of the Bedfordshire Regiment in a crater at the top of the hill, which he held against artillery and bomb attacks during the evening and night.

George Reginald Geary, PC, OBE, MC, KC ( August 12, 1873 – April 30, 1954 ) was Mayor of Toronto, Ontario from 1910 to 1912.

The Vanier Highway, originally Route 12 when it was partially opened in Fredericton, was redesignated as part of Route 7 when it was fully completed to Oromocto in 1976, and a section of the Broad Road through Geary was bypassed in the early 1980s.

Born August 12, 1873 in Strathroy, Ontario, the Geary family moved to Sarnia, Ontario when Geary was age one.
