When Franz Halder, the Chief of the Army General Staff, heard of the state of the Kriegsmarine, and its plan for the invasion, he noted in his diary, on 28 July 1940, " If that plan is true, all previous statements by the navy were so much rubbish and we can throw away the whole plan of invasion ".

The LWS was demonstrated to General Halder on 2 August 1940 by the Reinhardt Trials Staff on the island of Sylt and, though he was critical of its high silhouette on land, he recognised the overall usefulness of the design.

General Franz Halder noted in his diaries that, by destroying the Soviet Union, Germany would destroy Britain's hope of victory.

General Franz Halder after reading some of Raeder's memos wrote in his diary of " navalism run amuck " and commented that Raeder and other admirals that: " These people dream in continents ".

In fact, both Rundstedt and Blaskowitz complained to the Chief of Staff, General Franz Halder, about the Army Command's apparent tolerance of such incidents.

William L. Shirer's The Rise and Fall of the Third Reich details how at Nuremberg, General Franz Halder stated in an affidavit that Hermann Göring joked about setting the fire:

Codenamed Felix-Heinrich, the plan was submitted to General Franz Halder on 10 March 1941.

In fact, head of Army General Staff General Franz Halder had been dismissed in September after his efforts to warn about the danger which was developing along the over-extended flanks of the Sixth Army and the Fourth Panzer Army.

Von Leeb's plan called for capturing the city on the move, but due to Hitler's recall of 4th Panzer Group ( persuaded by his Chief of General Staff, Franz Halder, to transfer this south to participate in Fedor von Bock's push for Moscow ), von Leeb had to lay the city under siege indefinitely after reaching the shores of Lake Ladoga, while trying to complete the encirclement and reaching the Finnish Army under Marshal Carl Gustaf Emil Mannerheim waiting at the Svir River, east of Leningrad.

Rise and Fall is based upon captured Third Reich documents, the available diaries of propaganda minister Joseph Goebbels, General Franz Halder, and of the Italian Foreign Minister Galeazzo Ciano, evidence and testimony from the Nuremberg trials, British Foreign Office reports, and the author's recollection of six years reporting on the Third Reich for newspapers, the United Press International ( UPI ), and CBS Radio — terminated by Nazi Party censorship in 1940.

Notes taken at the meeting by the Army's Chief of Staff, General Franz Halder, describe:

On 11 October 1939 speaking to Hassel of German war crimes in Poland, Goerdeler commented that both General Halder and Admiral Canaris were afflicted with nervous complaints as a result of " our brutal conduct of the war " in Poland.

" ( Wolfgang Kapp, the nominal leader of the Kapp Putsch was notorious for his irresponsibility ) The proposed putsch became stillborn when Field Marshal Walter von Brauchitsch and General Franz Halder, the leaders of the planned putsch got cold feet, and dropped their support.

In early April 1940, Goerdeler met secretly with General Franz Halder, the Chief of the General Staff, and asked him to consider a putsch while the Phoney War was still on, while the British and French were still open to a negotiated peace.

Franz Halder ( 30 June 1884 – 2 April 1972 ) was a German General and the chief of the Army General Staff from 1938 until September, 1942, when he was dismissed after frequent disagreements with Adolf Hitler.

Halder was born in Würzburg to General Max Halder.

Recognized as a fine staff officer and planner, in August 1936 Halder was promoted to Generalleutnant ( rank of a division commander, hence equivalent to a US Army Major General ).

On 1 February 1938 Halder was promoted to General der Artillerie ( rank of a corps commander, equivalent to a US Army three-star General ).

President Lincoln rejected two geographically limited emancipation attempts by Major General John C. Frémont in August 1861 and by Major General David Hunter in May 1862, on the grounds that it was not within their power, and it would upset the border states loyal to the Union.

The talks were ended in 2003, when the General Assembly of the Church of Scotland rejected the proposals.

* 1942 – World War II: Battle of Stalingrad – General Friedrich Paulus sends Adolf Hitler a telegram saying that the German 6th army is surrounded.

Some felt that the adoption of this report provided for a clear local option mentioned, while the Stated Clerk of the General Assembly, Clifton Kirkpatrick went on record as saying, " Our standards have not changed.
