Anthemius of Tralles ( c. 474 – before 558 ; ) was a Greek professor of Geometry in Constantinople ( present-day Istanbul in Turkey ) and architect, who collaborated with Isidore of Miletus to build the church of Hagia Sophia by the order of Justinian I. Anthemius came from an educated family, one of five sons of Stephanus of Tralles, a physician.

300 BC, also known as Euclid of Alexandria, was a Greek mathematician, often referred to as the " Father of Geometry ".

Geometry was one of the two fields of pre-modern mathematics, the other being the study of numbers ( arithmetic ).

Geometry was connected to the divine for most History of science in the Middle Ages | medieval scholars.

The Geometry Engine was the first very-large-scale integration ( VLSI ) implementation of a geometry pipeline, specialized hardware that accelerated the " inner-loop " geometric computations needed to display three-dimensional images.

It is widely believed that in 1617, Veranzio implemented his design and tested the parachute by jumping from St Mark's Campanile in Venice and that the event was documented some thirty years later by John Wilkins, founder and secretary of the Royal Society in London in his book Mathematical Magick or, the Wonders that may be Performed by Mechanical Geometry, published in London in 1648.

He was at one time simultaneously the curator of experiments of the Royal Society and a member of its council, Gresham Professor of Geometry and a Surveyor to the City of London after the Great Fire of London, in which capacity he appears to have performed more than half of all the surveys after the fire.

In 1664 Hooke also was appointed Professor of Geometry at Gresham College in London and Cutlerian Lecturer in Mechanics.

The zenith of his group's advancements was the Geometry Engine, an early hardware accelerator for rendering computer images based on geometric models which he developed in 1979 with his students at Stanford.

( The Freemasons equated the seven known planets with the several liberal arts of which the fifth, Geometry, was considered the most important ).

Geometry was no more limited to 3 dimensions.

GML geometry, for example, had been based on an earlier and only partly documented geometry model ( Simple Features Geometry ) and this was insufficient to support the more extensive and complex geometries described in TC / 211.

But it was rare for such methods to be translated into Latin ( a manual on Geometry, the eleventh century Geomatria incerti auctoris is a rare exception ), and such techniques appear to have percolated only slowly into the rest of Europe.

Her father, the Reverend Baden Powell, was the Savilian Chair of Geometry at the University of Oxford.

" This award, while certainly of major importance, never was reported in the Monthly Notices of the Royal Astronomical Society, probably due to Carrington's bitter, acrimonious and public criticism of Cambridge University over the appointment of John Adams as the non-observing Director of the Cambridge Observatory ( added to Adams's pre-existing academic duties as the Lowndean Professor of Astronomy and Geometry.

The Éléments de géométrie algébrique (" Elements of Algebraic Geometry ") by Alexander Grothendieck ( assisted by Jean Dieudonné ), or EGA for short, is a rigorous treatise, in French, on algebraic geometry that was published ( in eight parts or fascicles ) from 1960 through 1967 by the Institut des Hautes Études Scientifiques.

Notable examples are Geometry Wars, which was originally a minigame in Project Gotham Racing 2, and Arcomage, a relatively complex minigame, reminiscent of Magic: The Gathering, first introduced in Might and Magic VII: For Blood and Honor.

Geometry of reflection and refraction of light raysGeometrical optics, or ray optics, describes the propagation of light in terms of " rays " which travel in straight lines, and whose paths are governed by the laws of reflection and refraction at interfaces between different media.

Nevertheless, in 1637 he published part of this work in three essays: Les Météores ( The Meteors ), La Dioptrique ( Dioptrics ) and La Géométrie ( Geometry ), preceded by an introduction, his famous Discours de la Métode ( Discourse on the Method ).
