Ruth Gordon Jones ( October 30, 1896 – August 28, 1985 ), better known as Ruth Gordon, was an American actress and writer.

Other children's series of note in the 1950s would be Captain Z-Ro which was broadcast starting in 1951, Rocky Jones, Space Ranger, and Flash Gordon ( 1954 TV series ) syndicated in 1954.

He used the same actors ( Warren Oates, L. Q. Jones, R. G. Armstrong, James Coburn, Ben Johnson, and Kris Kristofferson ), and collaborators ( Jerry Fielding, Lucien Ballard, Gordon Dawson, and Martin Baum ) in many of his films, and several of his friends and assistants stuck by him to the end of his life.

* February 16 – Only a little more than four months after the release of the 70mm version of Oklahoma !, the film version of Rodgers and Hammerstein's Carousel, starring Gordon MacRae and Shirley Jones, is released in Cinemascope 55.

One night, at the Top Hat in Cwmtillery, Wales, Jones was spotted by Gordon Mills, a London-based manager originally from South Wales.

From 1965-1973 he switched from Blue Note to Prestige Records but stayed very much on the hard-bop track ; while the rest of the jazz world was getting funky, Gordon was making classic bop albums like 1972's Tangerine with Thad Jones, Freddie Hubbard, and Hank Jones.

Jones was friends with her late co-star Gordon MacRae and his ex-wife Sheila, and he was named godfather to her first son, Shaun Cassidy.

The film starred Gordon MacRae and Shirley Jones, and its soundtrack was # 1 on the 1956 album charts.

The 1956 film version of Carousel, made in CinemaScope 55, again starred Gordon MacRae and Shirley Jones, the same leads as the film version of Oklahoma!
