Having left Ducks Deluxe in early 1975, Garvey formed a band called The Snakes with Slaughter and vocalist Robert Gotobed, who would later form the punk band, Wire.

Wire is an English rock band, formed in London in October 1976 by Colin Newman ( vocals, guitar ), Graham Lewis ( bass, vocals ), Bruce Gilbert ( guitar ), and Robert Gotobed ( drums ).

Bass and drums were mostly sequenced and a 1990 UK and European tour saw the band performing live without Robert Gotobed, once again playing mostly new material from the LP and a few older songs reworked to fit the electronic instrumentation.

Mrs Gotobed passes away after this.

With Gotobed back in the line-up ( now using his birth name, Robert Grey ), the group initially reworked much of their back catalogue for a performance at Royal Festival Hall on 26 February 2000.

" The children befriend another young evacuee, Albert Sandwich, who is staying with Mr. Evans ' other sister, the dying Mrs Gotobed and her helper Hepzibah who Mr Evans thinks is a witch.

They also befriend Mrs. Gotobed's distant cousin Mr. Johnny Gotobed who has cerebral palsy, and her housekeeper, Hepzibah Green.

The more recent 2004 BBC version ( broadcast in America on PBS-Masterpiece Theatre in 2006 ) starred Keeley Fawcett as Carrie, Alun Armstrong as Mr. Evans, Geraldine McEwan as Mrs. Gotobed, Eddie Cooper as Albert Sandwich and Pauline Quirke as Hepzibah.

Foster left the band in 1987.
