The schools of Humanities and Sciences ( 27 departments ), Engineering ( 9 departments ), and Earth Sciences ( 4 departments ) have both graduate and undergraduate programs while the schools of Law, Medicine, and Education and the Graduate School of Business have graduate programs only.

The faculty is also features the LMUexcellent Graduate School of Systemic Neurosciences as well as the Munich Centre of the Learning Sciences which is jointly run by both departments of the faculty.

All ten faculties and departments provide teaching and supervision for research ( MPhil and PhD ) students with administration undertaken by the Graduate School.

On July 1965, a group of faculty, including Allen Newell, Herbert A. Simon, and Alan J. The Claremont Colleges — a consortium of seven schools of higher education — include Pomona College ( founded in 1887 ), Claremont Graduate University ( 1925 ), Scripps College ( 1926 ), Claremont McKenna College ( 1946 ), Harvey Mudd College ( 1955 ), Pitzer College ( 1963 ), and the Keck Graduate Institute of Applied Life Sciences ( 1997 ).

Graduate students elect an executive and council members to represent their respective interests within the organization, which in turn advocates on their behalf and provides a variety of services that cater to postgraduates, which include the operation of a ' Grad Lounge ' and graduate students ' pub called Mike's Place ( named after the late Prime Minister Lester B. Pearson ), and the provision of access to a variety of office services.

Graduate campus groups include the Graduate Employees Union and the Council of Graduate Students.

Born in Chiayi City in the then Japanese colony of Taiwan, Siew graduated from the Department of Diplomacy at National Chengchi University in 1961, and received a master's degree from the Graduate Institute of International Law and Diplomacy at National Chengchi University in 1965.
