The show was hosted for its entire run by composer Steve Race, who also set the challenges ( after an early period in which they were set by series creator Edward J. * On November 20, 1981, the CBC Radio series Nightfall aired an adaptation of Carmilla written by Graham Pomeroy and John Douglas.

In 1940, a thirty minute musical version of the play written by Joseph Gottlieb and Irvin Graham aired on CBS as part of their Columbia Workshop series, with Carleton Young and Nan Sunderland.

First person narrators are often unreliable narrators since a narrator might be impaired such as Benjy in Faulkner's The Sound and the Fury ), lie ( as in The Quiet American by Graham Greene, or The Book of the New Sun series by Gene Wolfe ), or manipulate his or her own memories intentionally or not ( as in The Remains of the Day by Kazuo Ishiguro, or in Ken Keasey's One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest ).
