The Takutu Bridge is seen as the first of several joint projects between Guyana and Brazil intended to facilitate cargo traffic: Brazil is expected to subsidize the paving of the Lethem-to-Georgetown road, a development that would have profound impacts on the area's economy and environment.

According to Guyana's National Development Strategy, it is anticipated that by the year 2010 an inter-connected road system would have been established in Guyana.

Two neighbours have longstanding territorial disputes with Guyana.

Through time Barbados and Guyana have both supported each other.

Brazil – Guyana relations have traditionally been close.

Canada and Guyana have strong ties through the Commonwealth of Nations.

Some countries such as Guyana, for example, have officially adopted the metric system, but have had some trouble over time implementing it.

Guyana are the current holders, after they beat Barbados in the final, and they are also the team to have won it most, with nine titles, although two of them have been shared.

Their claim is based on the idea that Guyana has strong connections with the United States in terms of people ( 100, 000 people have joint Guyanese American citizenship and 350, 000 Guyanese live in the U. S., half as many as remain in Guyana ).

Some of the larger estates have more than 550 kilometers of canals ; Guyana itself has a total of more than 8, 000 kilometers.

Guyana lies south of the path of Caribbean hurricanes and none is known to have hit the country.

The Arawak people include the Taíno, who occupied the Lesser Antilles and Guadeloupe ( called " Karukera " meaning " The island of beautiful waters ") before being largely killed off by the Caribs in the 18th century ; the Greater Antilles and the Bahamas ( Lucayans ); the Nepoya and Suppoya of Trinidad ; the Lokono of Guyana, and the Igneri, who were supposed to have preceded the Caribs in the Lesser Antilles-such as in, together with related groups ( including the Lucayans ) which lived along the eastern coast of South America, as far south as what is now Brazil.
