Actor Fred Gwynne, star of TV's The Munsters, died in Taneytown on July 2, 1993, after he was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer.

Vanderbilt died from a cerebral hemorrhage caused from a second stroke during 1899 at the age of 55, leaving The Breakers to his wife, Alice Gwynne Vanderbilt.

Alfred Gwynne Vanderbilt II ( September 22, 1912 – November 12, 1999 ) was a member of the prominent Vanderbilt family, a son of the first Alfred Gwynne Vanderbilt who died a hero in the sinking of the RMS Lusitania.

Previously, freshmen were housed in Vanderbilt Hall, erected in memory of William Henry Vanderbilt, a member of the class of 1893, who died in 1892 and was the son of Cornelius Vanderbilt II and Alice Gwynne Vanderbilt.

The film was Fred Gwynne ’ s final film appearance before his death on July 2, 1993, of pancreatic cancer.

As a result, in 1955, Gwynne made a memorable appearance on The Phil Silvers Show, in the episode " The Eating Contest " as the character Private Honigan, whose depressive eating binges are exploited by Sgt.

A talented vocalist, Gwynne sang in a Hallmark Hall of Fame made-for-television production, The Littlest Angel ( 1969 ), and went on to perform in a variety of roles on stage and screen.
