This move away from Essendon, at a time when fans would walk to their local ground, did not go over well with many Essendon people ; and, as a consequence, a new team and club was formed in 1900, unconnected with the first ( although it played in the same colours ), that was based at the Essendon Cricket Ground, and playing in the Victorian Football Association.

In Victorian England real tennis had a revival, but broad public interest later shifted to the new, outdoor, game of lawn tennis, which soon became the more popular sport, played by both sexes ( real tennis players were almost exclusively male ).

Later, after silent films were superseded by the ' talkies ', stage actor Tod Slaughter, at the age of 50, transferred to the screen the Victorian melodramas in which he had played villain in his earlier theatrical career.

He played for Hawthorn in the Victorian Football League ( now Australian Football League ) from 1969 to 1985, coached Collingwood from 1986 – 1995, and coached the Brisbane Lions from 1999 to 2008.

Since October 1996 the Camberwell Magpies Cricket Club has played in the Victorian Premier Cricket competition.

In the series, E. Blackadder Esquire is the butler to the Prince Regent, the Prince of Wales ( the prince is played by Hugh Laurie as a complete fop and idiot ).

His other film roles during this period included Spike Milligan's surreal The Bed Sitting Room ( 1969 ), in which he mutates into a parrot, a drunken butler in The Ruling Class ( 1972 ) with Peter O ' Toole, and Theatre of Blood ( 1973 ), a horror movie starring Vincent Price, with Lowe as one of the critics murdered by the deranged actor played by Price.

He also played a valet or butler in several other films, including Personal Maids, Mister Cinderella, and Bordertown.

In 1964, Treacher played the role of stuffy English butler Arthur Pinkney in two episodes of The Beverly Hillbillies.

Cabot did not halt his other film and television work during the run of Family Affair ; in fact, he took a leave of absence from the series at one point — ( his stand-in, an actor often typecast as a butler or a detective, was veteran British character actor John Williams, who played French's brother Nigel in Family Affair ).
