518 was renamed Deke Slayton Highway.

The western termini of Highway 124, which extends easterly to Sundridge, and Highway 518, which heads east to Kearney, are both located just outside Parry Sound's town limits.

The highway was routed through Helena along what is now Montana Secondary Highway 518 and Montana Secondary Highway 229.

Land adjacent to a hydro corridor was acquired for the future freeway in the 1960s, but sat vacant as the Ontario government opted instead to widen Highway 401 to a twelve-lane collector-express system.

While travelling through Costa Rica, the highway route is known as Costa Rica Highway 1 instead of CA Highway 1.

The signs identifying the QEW have always used blue lettering on a yellow background instead of the black-on-white scheme on Ontario's standard King's Highway signs.

Ontario ’ s only other 400-series highway to have had a unique provincial highway shield with letters instead of a number is Highway 401, which was co-designated as the Macdonald-Cartier Freeway.

Highway 7 / 8 between Courtland Avenue and Fischer-Hallman Road has an abnormally narrow median, and overpasses are single structures with simple curbs as median dividers instead of the usual Jersey barrier or Ontario tall-wall.

In Central Oregon there was the Santiam Wagon Road ( established 1861 ), which roughly parallels Oregon Highway 20 to the Willamette Valley.

Today, U. S. Highway 90 closely parallels the old trail.

The dreamlike ( or nightmarish ) atmosphere of Meshes has influenced many subsequent films, notably David Lynch's Lost Highway ( 1997 ); Wendy Haslem of the University of Melbourne's Cinema Studies department wrote about the parallels:
