Aykroyd's great-grandfather, Samuel Augustus Aykroyd ( 1855 – 1933 ), a dentist, had been a mystic and had been involved in Spiritualism.

Sir Samuel was the grandfather-in-law of the society hostess Emerald, Lady Cunard ( wife of the third baronet ), and the great-grandfather of Nancy Cunard.

This structure was built with stone quarried from the nearby Marble Cliff Quarry Co., and was once a residence of local industrialist and U. S. Senator Samuel Prescott Bush, grandfather and great-grandfather of U. S. Presidents George H. W. Bush and George W. Bush respectively.

Lapham was the father of San Francisco mayor Roger Lapham, the grandfather of actor Christopher Lloyd, and the great-grandfather of Lewis H. Lapham, of Harper's Magazine.

In the War of the Austrian Succession he took command of an army division sent to invade Austria in 1741, and on 19 November 1741, surprised Prague during the night, and seized it before the garrison was aware of the presence of an enemy, a coup de main which made him famous throughout Europe ; he thus repeated the exploit of 1648 of his maternal great-grandfather, Hans Christoff von Königsmarck.

He was the father of Cosimo de ' Medici ( Pater Patriae ), and great-grandfather of Lorenzo de Medici ( the Magnificent ).

Their son Charles succeeded as sixth Baron Howard of Walden on the death of his great-grandfather, Lord Bristol, in 1803 ( see Baron Howard de Walden and Baron Seaford ).

Through his granddaughter Mary de Bohun, he was great-grandfather to Henry V of England.

His great-grandfather was Bértrand Primo de Rivera ( 1741-1813 ), 21nd Count of Sobremonte, a general and hero of the Spanish Resistance against Napoleon Bonaparte.

In 1803 Lord Seaford's four-year old son Charles Ellis inherited the barony of Howard de Walden from his great-grandfather and became the sixth Baron Howard de Walden ( this title was created by writ in 1597 ; see the Baron Howard de Walden for earlier history of this peerage ).

The young Lord Howard de Walden ( 1799 – 1868 ), aged four when he inherited the title from his great-grandfather, eventually married Lady Lucy Cavendish-Scott-Bentinck, youngest daughter of William Bentinck, 4th Duke of Portland, and sister and co-heiress of the reclusive William Cavendish-Scott-Bentinck, 5th Duke of Portland.

According to research done by Professor Henry Louis Gates, Jr., of Harvard University, in 2010 for the PBS series Faces of America, Longoria's Spanish ancestry can be traced back to her ninth great-grandfather, Lorenzo Suarez de Longoria ( b. Oviedo, 1592 ), who emigrated to the Viceroyalty of New Spain in 1603 ( now modern-day Mexico ), and whose family originated from a small village called Llongoria, Belmonte de Miranda, Asturias, Spain.

His father Jean's great-grandfather, Albert, 4th duc de Broglie, was Louis de Broglie's grandfather, and there was no other surviving senior male.

He was also the great-grandfather of Ewelina Hańska, wife of French author Honoré de Balzac.

Also, the great-grandfather of famous Brazilian president Juscelino Kubitschek de Oliveira ( Kubíček, in Czech ), came from Třeboň.

Wine merchant Friedrich Karl Christian Huth, whose great-grandfather had been kellermeister ( cellar-master ) to King Friedrich II back in 1769, had founded the firm in 1871 and taken over the former building in Potsdamer Straße on 23 March 1877.

Coincidentally, Trudeau later became the Member of Parliament ( MP ) for a riding named after Talbot Mercer Papineau's lineage: this includes his great-great-grandfather, seigneur Joseph Papineau ( 1752 – 1841 ) and great-grandfather, reformist Patriote Louis-Joseph Papineau ( 1786 – 1871 ).

In Esther 2: 5 – 6, either Mordecai or his great-grandfather Kish is identified as having been exiled from Jerusalem to Babylon by King Nebuchadnezzar in 597 BCE: " Mordecai son of Jair, the son of Shimei, the son of Kish, who had been carried into exile from Jerusalem by Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon, among those taken captive with Jeconiah king of Judah.

Depending on the interpretation of Esther 2: 5 – 6, Mordecai or his great-grandfather Kish was carried away from Jerusalem with Jeconiah by Nebuchadnezzar, in 597 BCE.

Marcus ' great-grandfather Marcus Annius Verus ( I ) was a senator and ( according to the Historia Augusta ) ex-praetor ; in 73 – 74, his grandfather, Marcus Annius Verus ( II ), was made a patrician.

He is the elder son of Jean Edmond Lucien Giscard d ' Estaing ( 1894 – 1982 ), a civil servant, and his wife, Marthe Clémence Jacqueline Marie ( May ) Bardoux, who was a daughter of senator and academic Achille Octave Marie Jacques Bardoux and a great-granddaughter of minister of state education Agénor Bardoux, also a granddaughter of historian Georges Picot and niece of diplomat François Georges-Picot, and also a great-great-great-granddaughter of King Louis XV of France by one of his mistresses, Catherine Eléonore Bernard ( 1740 – 1769 ) through his great-grandfather Marthe Camille Bachasson, Count of Montalivet, and by whom Giscard d ' Estaing was a multiple descendant of Charlemagne.

His father's name ( as the 10th ) was due to his great-grandfather, King Charles IX of Sweden ( 1604 – 1611 ), having adopted his own numeral by using a mythological History of Sweden.

A grant of land on which Monaca now stands was granted by the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania by patent, bearing the date September 5, 1787, to Colonel Ephraim Blaine ( 1741 – 1804 ), who served in the Continental Army during the American Revolutionary War, from 1778 to 1782 as commissary-general of the Northern Department, and paternal great-grandfather of James G. Blaine.

Mannerheim's great-grandfather, Count Carl Erik Mannerheim ( 1759 – 1837 ), had held a number of offices in Finland's civil service during the early years of the autonomous Russian Grand Principality of Finland, including membership in the Senate, and served as the first Prime Minister of Finland ( formally the Vice Chairman of the Economic Department of the Senate-the Senate consisted of Economic Department, later the cabinet, and the Justice Dpt, later the Supreme Court, and the formal chairman of both was the Governor General as the acting head of state ).

Lionel's great-grandfather was John Louis Brown ( October 25, 1839 – September 8, 1931 ), the bi-racial ( mulatto ) possible son of the widowed 81-year-old American-Revolutionary-War-fighter Dr. Morgan Brown or his son, Judge Morgan Welles Brown.

Uniquely in the family the 11th earl, Dunglass's great-grandfather, had held government office, as Under-secretary at the Foreign Office in Wellington's 1828 – 30 government.

Stenbock's great-grandfather was Baron Friedrich von Stuart ( 1761 – 1842 ) from Courland.

His great-grandfather was Richard Whalley ( 1499 – 1583 ), a prominent adherent of Edward Seymour, 1st Duke of Somerset, and a Member of Parliament.

Richard Woodville ( or Wydeville ), 1st Earl Rivers, KG ( 1405 – 12 August 1469 ) was an English nobleman, best remembered as the father of Elizabeth Woodville and the maternal grandfather of Edward V and the maternal great-grandfather of Henry VIII.

George Grey ( 1767 – 1828 ), second son of the first Earl Grey, was created a baronet, of Fallodon in the County of Northumberland, in 1814 ( see Grey baronets ) and was the father of Sir George Grey, 2nd Baronet, and the great-grandfather of Edward Grey, 1st Viscount Grey of Fallodon.
