The Stewards however did maintain the tradition of taking their heirs to the hallowed tomb of Elendil at Halifirien, and just like Kings they were embalmed after death and laid in the Houses of the Dead at the Silent Street behind Minas Tirith.

:' Sports of Dancing, Masking, Comedies, and such like, used formerly in the Kings House, the Inns of Court, or in the Houses of other great personages ; And are so called, because they are most used by night, when otherwise men commonly sleep '

Ultimately the old Irish Houses of Parliament, the world's first purpose-built two-chamber parliament building, has remained a curiously contradictory symbol for Ireland: a parliament based on discrimination and exclusion that nevertheless, through producing radical leaders like Henry Grattan, is seen generally with affection by a people whose ancestors were debarred from membership.

But the Prime Minister's home had become an icon of British architecture like Windsor Castle, Buckingham Palace and the Houses of Parliament.

Another procession from there past the fairground in Leysbourne and the Alms Houses brings that stage of the celebration to a close whilst the fair continues until mid-night and, like a ghost, is gone by the morning.

Houses and gardens were aligned on a north-south axis, with the residence to the north and the ceremonial buildings and main garden to the south, there were two long wings to the south, like the arms of an armchair, with the garden between them.

Pest is the old word for plague and like other Pest Houses built in England, it was subsequently used to house local inhabitants or travellers suffering from the plague, smallpox and other infectious diseases.

Houses were typically positioned for aesthetic effect with various ideas like inner-corner semi-detached ( Hackett Gardens ), facing the corner ( Macleay Street ) or symmetrical arrangements between the houses ( Holder Street ).

Houses compete each other in various school events, like athletes day, swimming gala, games day, talent shows and others, for an annual inter-house competition award.

Others ( like Jane Addams ) promoted Settlement Houses.

Each level also has its own kitchen, but these are much smaller than in the Upper Houses.

Any list of these would have to include the Night of the Living Houses ( said to be the first comic strip to enter the collection of the Louvre ) wherein Nemo and a friend are chased down a city street by a gang of tenement houses on legs ; the Walking Bed, in which Nemo and Flip ride over the rooftops on the increasingly long limbs of Nemo's bed ( see illustration ); and the Befuddle Hall sequence, wherein Nemo and his friends attempt to find their way out of a funhouse environment of a Beaux-Arts interior turned topsy-turvy.

Though officially known as the House of Romanov, these descendants of the Romanov and Oldenburg Houses are sometimes referred to as Holstein-Gottorp-Romanov.

All of these additional lines are taken from the 1594 quarto of the play, The First part of the Contention betwixt the two famous Houses of Yorke and Lancaster.

Together with his partners ( Westervelt & MacKay and Westervelt & Sons ) he designed some of the fastest and most successful sailing packets, clippers and steamships ever built, among these the screw sloop and the clipper, as well as many vessels for foreign governments and Royal Houses.

Since the disposal of Babbitt many of these " Babbitt Houses " have found their way throughout rural Nevada filling a number of uses.

This meant a distinct executive and a distinct parliamentary power, a government for the whole of Australia and it meant a Parliament of two Houses, a house of commons and a senate, which would legislate on these great subjects.

Houses line both of these roads, with residential cul-de-sacs and lanes extending from them.

Houses of this type are seldom seen today, however, though barns are still constructed using these methods.

Upper Houses are divided between double rooms and singles, with about sixty percent of the population being in doubles.

The Lower Houses each have four floors, but are much narrower with each level having only four rooms.

The Lower Houses do have far larger and better fitted common rooms that are similar to the ones the Upper Houses had before the renovations.

The rooms in the Lower Houses are also considered more luxurious with hardwood floors and large sizes.

Rooms in the Lower Houses are more expensive, however.

Houses and two-story buildings are rare.

Among Alexander's most notable built works are the Eishin Campus near Tokyo ( the building process of which is soon to be outlined in his forthcoming book Battle ); the West Dean Visitors Centre in West Sussex, England ; the Julian Street Inn ( a homeless shelter ) in San Jose, California ( both described in Nature of Order ); the Martinez House ( an experimental house in Martinez, California made of lightweight concrete ); the low-cost housing in Mexicali, Mexico ( described in The Production of Houses ); and several private houses ( described and illustrated in " The Nature of Order ").

The Houses themselves are to some degree alive, in the same way TARDISes are and the furniture can move about, occasionally growing into ' Drudges ' who function as servants for the family.

Hints about this future war are dropped in several books earlier in the series beginning with Lawrence Miles's Alien Bodies and the war itself plays out as it would have originally done in Miles ' Faction Paradox series in which certain names are changed for copyright reasons ( the Time Lords become the Great Houses and Gallifrey becomes the Home World ).

Also of interest are the High Lighthouse ( 1818 ); the unusual Treadwheel Crane ( late 17th century ); the Electric Palace Cinema ( 1911 ), one of the oldest purpose-built cinemas to survive complete with its original projection room and ornamental frontage still intact and operational ; the Old Custom Houses on West Street ; and a number of Victorian shopfronts.

Medical institutions, referred to as Houses of Life are known to have been established in ancient Egypt as early as the 1st Dynasty.

Some hotels are built with living trees as structural elements, for example the Treehotel near Piteå, Sweden, the Costa Rica Tree House in the Gandoca-Manzanillo Wildlife Refuge, Costa Rica ; the Treetops Hotel in Aberdare National Park, Kenya ; the Ariau Towers near Manaus, Brazil, on the Rio Negro in the Amazon ; and Bayram's Tree Houses in Olympos, Turkey.

Houses are mostly known from Old Babylonian remains at Nippur and Ur.

Although the Lords are still involved in the legislative process and the Prime Minister must still guide legislation through both Houses, the Lords no longer have the power to veto or even delay enactment of legislation passed by the Commons.

Many Benedictine Houses have a number of Oblates ( secular ) who are affiliated with them in prayer, having made a formal private promise ( usually renewed annually ) to follow the Rule of St Benedict in their private life as closely as their individual circumstances and prior commitments permit.

Houses are made in many different architectural styles which may be of European, American and International architecture and which vary in size, although the main difference with the US and Canada is that houses are mainly constructed with bricks and concrete instead of wood ; thus houses tend to last much longer, approximately 50 years.
