Saxton was the home of the Huntingdon and Broad Top Railroad ( H & BT ).

Ultimately fourteen clubs applied to join the league ; eight from the Peterborough & District League ( Downham Town, Huntingdon United, King's Lynn reserves, Ortonians, Somersham Town, Warboys Town and Yaxley – Parson Drove also applied later in the year, but were rejected ), three from the Anglian Combination ( Diss Town, Fakenham Town and Wroxham ) and three from the Essex & Suffolk Border League ( Bury Town reserves, Hatfield Peverel and Little Oakley ).

By the 1930s, Huntingdon was home to a small but thriving textile industry founded by Alex Fawcett & Hiram Leach as Leach Textiles.

After World War II, entrepreneurs François Cleyn and Alec Tinker acquired the textile businesses in Huntingdon and built their company, Cleyn & Tinker Limited, into one of the most successful woolen mills in all of Canada.

It was a stop on the former Pennsylvania Railroad Main Line between Tyrone and Huntingdon and the junction point for the Petersburg Branch.

The railroad's trackage in Huntingdon, Pennsylvania was sold to the Pennsylvania Railroad.

The 12th century chronicler Henry of Huntingdon produced an enhanced version of the Anglo-Saxon Chronicle that included 514 as the date of Ælle's death, but this is not secure.

Later that century Robin is promoted to the level of nobleman: he is styled Earl of Huntingdon, Robert of Locksley, or Robert Fitz Ooth.

In a collection of chancery proceedings, it is heard of a petition brought against Malory by Richard Kyd, parson of Papworth, claiming that Malory ambushed him on a November evening, and took him from Papworth, to Huntingdon, and then to Bedford, to Northampton, all the while being threatened on his life to either forfeit his church unto Malory, or else give £ 100.

According to Henry of Huntingdon, " Six feet of ground or as much more as he needs, as he is taller than most men ", was Harold's response.

Henry of Huntingdon ( 12th century ) claimed that Harthacnut ordered for the dining tables of his court to be " laid four times a day with royal sumptuousness " which O ' Brien says is likely a popular myth.

A recent study translates his words as follows :" And a very great betrayal of a lord it is also in the world, that a man betray his lord to death, or drive him living from the land, and both have come to pass in this land: Edward was betrayed, and then killed, and after that burned ..." Later sources, further removed from events, such as the late 11th century Passio S. Eadwardi and John of Worcester, claim that Ælfthryth organised the killing of Edward, while Henry of Huntingdon wrote that she killed Edward herself.

He is engaged in a long-term conspiracy to snatch the Crown from Elizabeth in order to settle it first on his brother-in-law, the Earl of Huntingdon, and ultimately on himself.

Huntingdon College is on the southwestern edge of Cloverdale.

Huntingdon College participates at the NCAA Division III level and Faulkner University is a member of the NAIA and is a nearby rival of Auburn University at Montgomery.

Montgomery also is home to several private colleges: Faulkner University, which has an enrollment of 3, 500, is a Church of Christ-affiliated school ; Huntingdon College, which has a current student population of 1, 000 and is affiliated with the United Methodist Church ; Virginia College and Amridge University.
