After the death of his father in 1464, Albert and Ernest ruled their lands together, but in 1485 a division was made by the Treaty of Leipzig, and Albert received the Meissen, together with some adjoining districts, and founded the Albertine branch of the House of Wettin.

Edited by Jehan Lagadec in 1464, it was a trilingual work containing Breton, French and Latin.

Pope Pius II, born Enea Silvio Piccolomini ( Latin Aeneas Sylvius ; 18 October 1405 – 14 August 1464 ) was Pope from 19 August 1458 until his death in 1464.

Pius II was unaware he was nearing his end, and his malady probably prompted the feverish impatience with which on 18 June 1464 he assumed the cross and departed for Ancona to conduct the crusade in person.

He expired two days afterwards, on 14 August 1464, and was succeeded by Pope Paul II.

Cardinal Piccolomini participated in the conclave that elected Pope Paul II ( 1464 – 71 ) in 1464, but was absent when Pope Sixtus IV ( 1471 – 84 ) was elected in 1471.

Pope Paul II ( 23 February 1417 – 26 July 1471 ), born Pietro Barbo, was Pope from 1464 until his death in 1471.

He was elected to succeed Pope Pius II by the accessus in the first ballot of the papal conclave of 1464 with a majority of fourteen of the nineteen cardinals present.

Although Paul II was a committed opponent of humanist learning, he oversaw and approved the introduction of printing into the Papal States, first at Subiaco in 1464 by Arnold Pannartz and Konrad Sweynheim, and at Rome itself in 1467.

Elizabeth Woodville ( also spelled Wydeville or Widvile ; c. 1437 – 8 June 1492 ) was Queen consort of England as the spouse of King Edward IV from 1464 until his death in 1483.

Lancastrian revolts in the far north of England were defeated in 1464, and the fugitive King Henry was captured and imprisoned the next year.

It also suffered a number of fires ( particularly in 1386, 1447, 1459, 1464, 1536 and 1590 ), which increased the popularity of brick over wood as a building material.

The earliest known date of a picture of his, an altar-piece in the Accademia is 1440 ; the latest, in the Lateran museum, 1464, but he appears to have been alive in 1470. In 1464, the access to the castle was improved, with the current approach road up the north-east side of the rock being created for easier movement of the royal artillery train in and out of the castle.
