Qasim Barid, founder of the Barid Shahi dynasty joined the service of Bahmani ruler Mahmud Shah Bahmani ( r. 1482 – 1518 ) as a sar-naubat but later became mir-jumla of the Bahmani sultanate.

He conquered Golkonda and became the Governor of Telangana region in 1518, after the disintegration of the Bahmani sultanate into the five Deccan sultanates.

Eleanor of Austria ( 15 November 1498 – 25 February 1558 ), also called Eleanor of Castile, was born an Archduchess of Austria and Infanta of Castile from the House of Habsburg, and subsequently became Queen consort of Portugal ( 1518 – 1521 ) and of France ( 1530 – 1547 ).

After having studied at the Chapter School of Nagyvárad from 1505 to 1512, he became a page at the court of Ladislaus II, but shortly afterwards chose an ecclesiastical career, and was ordained a priest in 1516 or 1518.

In 1074, the Bishop of Lausanne, Burkhard von Oltigen founded a new city on the site and named it Adventica, which became Avenche in 1518.

By 1516 Afonso I sent various of his children and nobles to Europe to study, including his son Henrique Kinu a Mvemba, who was elevated to the status of bishop in 1518.

In 1518, Holy Roman Emperor Maximilian I created Mikalojus Radvila ’ s son, Mikołaj, Reichsfürst (" Imperial Prince ") of Goniądz and Meteliai after the Jagiellonian-Habsburg congress at Vienna.

It was founded by John Blubery in 1518, and received its royal charter from Elizabeth I in 1574.
