The church contains a number of fine monuments, including the " purest Renaissance monument of the mid-16th century " to Sir Robert Dormer ( died 1552 ) and a wall monument attributed to Louis-François Roubiliac.

A number of feus were granted in the Parish around that time, including Ravensby in 1539, Gedhall to David Gardyne in 1541, half of Barry Links and Cowbyres to Walter Cant in 1545 and the other half of the links to Robert Forrester in 1552.

The various Eucharistic liturgies used by national churches of the Anglican Communion have continuously evolved from the 1549 and 1552 editions of the Book of Common Prayer which both owed their form and contents chiefly to the work of Thomas Cranmer, who had rejected the medieval theology of the Mass in about 1547 Although the 1549 rite retained the traditional sequence of the mass, its underlying theology was Protestant.

In the Treaty of Passau ( 1552 ), Archduke Ferdinand I, representing Emperor Charles V, secured the agreement of the Protestant princes to submit the religious question to a diet.

A small Protestant victory in 1552 forced Charles, weary from three decades of war, to sign the Peace of Passau, which granted some freedoms to Protestants and ended all of Charles ' hopes at religious unity within his empire.

The Interim was overthrown in 1552 by the revolt of the Protestant elector Maurice of Saxony and his allies.
