Alemán graduated at Seville University in 1564, studied later at Salamanca and Alcalá, and from 1571 to 1588 held a post in the treasury ; in 1594 he was arrested on suspicion of malversation, but was speedily released.

Their family is notable for their bitter feud with the Orsini family over influence in Rome until it was stopped by Papal Bull in 1511 ; in 1571 the Chiefs of both families married nieces of Pope Sixtus V.

Hieronymus van Tuyll ( 1510 – 1571 ), burgrave ( viscount ) of Zeeland, married Elisabeth Micault, daughter of John, knight of the Order of the Golden Fleece.

On 26 August 1571 in Vienna Maria Anna married her maternal uncle, Charles II of Austria ( 1540 – 1590 ).

His daughter Anne became the first wife of Edward de Vere, 17th Earl of Oxford in 1571 ; she served as a Maid of Honour to Queen Elizabeth before her marriage.

It was 1571 years before the first design for a seismoscope was published in Europe, by Jean de la Hautefeuille.

Zurita resigned these posts on the January 21, 1571, obtained a sinecure at Zaragoza, and dedicated himself wholly to the composition of his Anales de la Corona de Aragón, the first part of which had appeared in 1562 ; he lived to see the last volume printed at Zaragoza on the April 22, 1580, and died on the November 3 following.

The Christian ships that won the Battle of Lepanto ( 1571 ) left from Messina: the Spanish author Miguel de Cervantes, who took part in the battle, recovered for some time in the Grand Hospital.

Spanish Manila was founded on June 24, 1571 by three conquistadors: Martín de Goiti, Juan de Salcedo and Miguel López de Legazpi.

The Citadel, located on the Avenue Roger Salengro, was built between 1560 and 1571 on the site of a former medieval castle which was built in 1229 by Philippe de Hureprel.

An early arrangement to marry Anne Cecil, daughter of Sir William Cecil and eventual wife of de Vere, had fallen through in 1571.

After obtaining peace with various indigenous tribes, Miguel López de Legazpi made the Philippines the capital of the Spanish East Indies in 1571.

López de Legazpi established a settlement there on June 24, 1571 and he also ordered the construction of the walled city of Intramuros.

With the Guise family who led this faction out of favour at the French court, the Huguenot leader Admiral Gaspard de Coligny was readmitted into the king's council in September 1571.
