Originally named for Oliver Partridge, one of the three purchasers of the town ( along with Governor Francis Bernard ), the name was officially changed to Peru in 1805, possibly because of its high altitude.

On 2 December 1805 ( 20 November Old Style, 11 Frimaire An XIV, in the French Republican Calendar ), a French army, commanded by Emperor Napoleon I, decisively defeated a Russo-Austrian army, commanded by Tsar Alexander I and Holy Roman Emperor Francis II, after nearly nine hours of difficult fighting.

On 25 December 1805, Ferdinand had to give up Salzburg as well, which by the Treaty of Pressburg was annexed by his older brother, Emperor Francis II.

Following the Battle of Austerlitz in December 1805, The Holy Roman Empire was dissolved on 6 August 1806 when the last Holy Roman Emperor Francis II abdicated, following a crushing defeat at the Battle of Austerlitz by the French under Napoleon resulting in the Treaty of Pressburg, and sixteen of France's allies among the German states ( including Bavaria and Württemberg ) established the Confederation of the Rhine in July 1806.

The scale was devised in 1805 by Francis Beaufort ( later Rear Admiral Sir Francis Beaufort ), an Irish Royal Navy officer, while serving on HMS Woolwich.

In stark contrast to 1805, by 1809, Austria had managed to reform its military and build a relatively modern and overall redoutable army, placed under the command of their best commander, Archduke Charles of Austria, brother of Emperor Francis I of Austria.

In 1827 George ( 1801 – 1858 ) and Francis ( 1805 – 1885 ), sons of Charles Rivington, joined the firm.

His son, Francis Wilkinson Pickens ( 1805 – 1869 ) was a U. S. Congressman and the Governor of South Carolina when the state seceded from the Union in 1860.

The 4th Duke Ernest Frederick ( 1724 – 1800 ) was the last to be born in Saalfeld ; in 1764, he moved the capital from Saalfeld to Coburg, where in 1805 his son and heir Duke Francis ( 1750 – 1806 ) would buy Rosenau Castle as his residence.

Another line ruled the Vorlande from 1803 to 1805, and Modena from 1814 to 1859, while Empress Marie Louise, Napoleon's second wife and the daughter of Austrian Emperor Francis, ruled over the Duchy of Parma between 1814 and 1847.

Francis William Newman ( 27 June 1805 – 7 October 1897 ), the younger brother of Cardinal Newman, was an English scholar and miscellaneous writer.

Halton County is named after Major William Mathew Halton who was appointed in 1805 as Secretary to the Upper Canada provincial Lieutenant-Governor Sir Francis Gore.

Under the terms of the Treaty of Pressburg concluded December 26, 1805 between Napoleonic France and Holy Roman Emperor Francis II, several principalities allied to Napoleon were elevated to kingdoms.

In October 1805 John Adams wrote to his friend Benjamin Waterhouse, an American physician and scientist:

Robert Tannahill wrote the words in 1805 and James Barr composed the music in 1818.

He then taught philosophy and, in 1805, wrote a series of letters which, after their publication in a periodical, were collected as Catholic Loyalty Vindicated.

Upon his return, Krusenstern wrote a detailed report, Reise um die Welt in den Jahren 1803, 1804, 1805 und 1806 auf Befehl Seiner Kaiserliche Majestät Alexanders des Ersten auf den Schiffen Nadeschda und Newa ( Journey around the World in the Years 1803, 1804, 1805, and 1806 at the Command of his Imperial Majesty Alexander I in the Ships Nadezhda and Neva ) published in Saint Petersburg in 1810.

The barrister Gaspar de Arredondo y Pichardo wrote, " 40 children had their throats cut at the Moca's church, and the bodies found at the presbytery, which is the space that encircles the church's altar ..." This event was one of several documented accounts of acts perpetrated against the Dominicans by General Christophe, under the orders of Dessalines ; they were retreating from the Spanish-ruled side of the island after their failed invasion attempt of 1805.

He wrote also two Mémoires, read before the Institute, Les Paradoxes de Condillac ( 1805 ) and Le cours de philosophie ( 1815 – 1818 ).

During his residence at Calcutta he wrote his Sanskrit Grammar ( 1805 ), some papers on the religious ceremonies of the Hindus, and his Essay on the Vedas ( 1805 ), for a long time the standard work in English on the subject.

Comparing its workings to the techniques of mass production and scientific management made famous by Henry Ford and Frederick Winslow Taylor in the United States in the early 20th century, the economist Eric Roll wrote " Neither Taylor, Ford nor any other modern experts devised anything in the way of plan that cannot be discovered at Soho before 1805 ".

Historian Mark Noble wrote in 1805, that these fights often involve the use of " every epithet that was disgraceful to themselves and their opponents.

On the 12th of Safar 1220 ( May 12, 1805 ) the sheiks, with an immense concourse of the inhabitants, assembled in the vicinity of the governor's residence, and the ulema, amid the prayers and cries of the people, wrote a statement of the wrongs which they had endured under the administration of Khorshid Pasha.

On August 17, 1805, they were informed that the dam of the canal of Cairo was to be cut, and some chiefs of Muhammad Ali's party wrote the Mamelukes, informing them that the Pasha would go there early that morning with most of his troops to witness the ceremony, thus presenting the Mamelukes with an opportunity to enter and seize the city.

Moore wrote it in 1805 while at Jenkinstown Park in County Kilkenny, Ireland.

On November 3, 1805, William Clark wrote: " I arrived at the entrance of a river which appeared to Scatter over a Sand bar, the bottom of which I could See quite across and did not appear to be 4 Inches deep in any part ; I attempted to wade this Stream and to my astonishment found the bottom a quick Sand, and impassable ... ".

Liverpool wrote several political works but except his Treatise on the Coins of the Realm ( 1805 ) these are, according to the 1911 Encyclopædia Britannica, " without striking merits.

For forty years he was the intimate friend of Malesherbes, whose life ( 1805 ) he wrote.

" The multitudes of this fish are almost inconceivable ," Clark wrote in the autumn of 1805.

John R. Jewitt, an Englishman who wrote a memoir about his years as a captive of chief Maquinna in 1802 – 1805, describes the area in some detail.

Michael Haydn later ( 1805 ) wrote a Mass in honour of Leopold, the Missa sub titulo Sancti Leopoldi.

Lewis, on June 6, 1805, after ascending the river, wrote in his journal: “ I now became well convinced that this branch of the Missouri had it ’ s direction too much to the North for our rout to the Pacific ,” confirming that it was not the true Missouri or the correct path to follow westward.
