Sir David Brewster ( 11 December 1781 – 10 February 1868 ) was a Scottish physicist, mathematician, astronomer, inventor, writer and university principal.

This special angle of incidence is named after the Scottish physicist Sir David Brewster ( 1781 – 1868 ).

Eldest son Charles Barry ( junior ) ( 1823 – 1900 ) designed Dulwich College and park in south London and rebuilt Burlington House ( home of the Royal Academy ) in central London's Piccadilly ; Edward Middleton Barry ( 1830 – 1880 ) completed the Parliament buildings and designed the Royal Opera House in Covent Garden ; Godfrey Walter Barry ( 1834 – 1868 ) became a surveyor ; Sir John Wolfe-Barry ( 1836 – 1918 ) was the engineer for Tower Bridge and Blackfriars Railway Bridge.

On 12 March 1868, on his second visit to Sydney he was invited by Sir William Manning, President of the Sydney Sailors ' Home to picnic at the beachfront suburb of Clontarf to raise funds for the home.

General Sir Duncan Alexander Cameron GCB ( 20 May 1808 – 8 June 1888 ) was a British Army officer who fought in the Crimean War ( 1853 – 1856 ), commanded troops during part of the New Zealand Land Wars and was Governor of the Royal Military College Sandhurst from 1868 to 1875.

Soane designed several public buildings in London, including: National Debt Redemption Office ( 1817 ) demolished 1900 ; Insolvent Debtors Court ( 1823 ) demolished 1861 ; Privy Council and Board of Trade Offices, Whitehall ( 1823 – 24 ) remodelled by Sir Charles Barry the building now houses the Cabinet Office ; in a new departure for Soane he used the Italianate style for The New State Paper Office, ( 1829 – 1830 ) demolished 1868 to make way for the Foreign and Commonwealth Office building.
