A newly-organized International League formed in 1918, following World War I, and Jersey City received a league franchise.

* 1918 – The National Council of Bessarabia proclaims union with the Kingdom of Romania.

The period between 1911 and 1919 was filled with political turmoil, particularly with trade union unrest, which culminated on 17 December 1918.

* 1918 – Bukovina votes for the union with the Kingdom of Romania.

* 1918 – The Podgorica Assembly votes for " union of the people ", declaring assimilation into the Kingdom of Serbia.

In October 1918, Romania joined the war again and by the end of the war, the Austro-Hungarian and Russian empires had disintegrated ; governing bodies created by the Romanians of Transylvania, Bessarabia and Bukovina chose union with the Kingdom of Romania, resulting in Greater Romania.

The Kingdom of Yugoslavia, which before 3 October 1929 was known as the Kingdom of Serbs, Croats and Slovenes was established on 1 December 1918 by the union of the State of Slovenes, Croats and Serbs and the Kingdom of Serbia ( the Kingdom of Montenegro was annexed on 13 November 1918, and the Conference of Ambassadors in Paris gave international recognition to the union on 13 July 1922 ).

Formed in 1918 immediately after World War I as the Kingdom of Serbs, Croats and Slovenes by union of the State of Slovenes, Croats and Serbs and the Kingdom of Serbia.

* April 28 – The two remaining constituent republics of the former Socialist Federal Republic of Yugoslavia – Serbia and Montenegro – form a new state, named the Federal Republic of Yugoslavia ( after 2003, Serbia and Montenegro ), bringing to an end the official union of Serbs, Croats, Slovenes, Montenegrins, Bosnian Muslims and Macedonians that existed from 1918 ( with the exception of the period during World War II ).

The county councils of Bălţi, Soroca and Orhei were the earliest to ask for unification with the Kingdom of Romania, and on April 9 March 27 1918, in the presence of the Romanian Army, Sfatul Ţării voted in favour of the union, with the following conditions:

* Austria-Hungary ( 1867 – 1918 ) was an exclusive economic and monetary union with a population of more than 50 million people.

After the 1918 union of Transylvania with Romania, Caransebeş became part of Greater Romania.

The Act of Union, a December 1, 1918, agreement with Denmark, recognized Iceland as a fully sovereign state — the Kingdom of Iceland-joined with Denmark in a personal union with the Danish king.

In 1918, after the Proclamation of union of Alba Iulia ( adopted by the Deputies of the Romanians from Transylvania ), Deputies of the Saxons from Transylavania supported it, with their vote to be part of Romania, and declared their allegiance to the new Romanian state.

A union station was built so both railroads could share passenger facilities ; unfortunately it burned down during Armistice celebrations on 11 November 1918.

On 29 October 1918, the Croatian Sabor declared independence and decided to join the newly formed State of Slovenes, Croats and Serbs, which in turn entered into union with the Kingdom of Serbia on 4 December 1918 to form the Kingdom of Serbs, Croats, and Slovenes.

Their union produced one daughter named Maxine ( 1918 – 2009 ).

In 1918, the region of Vojvodina proclaimed its secession from Austria-Hungary to unite with the pan-Slavic State of Slovenes, Croats and Serbs ; the Kingdom of Serbia joined the union on 1 December 1918, and the country was named Kingdom of Serbs, Croats, and Slovenes.

François Tombalbaye, also called Ngarta Tombalbaye ( June 15, 1918 – April 13, 1975 ), was a teacher and a trade union activist who served as the first president of Chad.

When the authorities used military force to discontinue the extension of an originally peaceful protest strike in Zurich, on November 10, the committee gave Calonder the ultimatum to either call back the militia or accept the consequences of a nation-wide strike, Calonder declined in the name of the Federal Council, and on November 11, 1918, the committee called for an indefinite strike, now referred to as the Swiss General Strike.

A wave of labour unrest had begun with the London police strike of August 1918.

He joined the Independent Social Democratic Party of Germany in 1917, at the height of World War I, and was convicted of treason in 1918 for his role in inciting a strike of munitions workers.

* November 1, 1918 – The actions of a substitute motorman filling in during a strike lead to a subway crash in Flatbush.
