The Golden Bough: A Study in Magic and Religion is a wide-ranging, comparative study of mythology and religion, written by Scottish anthropologist Sir James George Frazer ( 1854 – 1941 ).

Sir James George Frazer ( 1 January 1854 – 7 May 1941 ), was a Scottish social anthropologist influential in the early stages of the modern studies of mythology and comparative religion.

Adam Kuper ( born 1941 ) is an anthropologist most closely linked to the school of social anthropology.

* Robert A. Heinlein's By His Bootstraps ( 1941 ) features a plot in which a man interacts with different older versions of himself that travel by way of a " Time Gate ", with all the interactions revisited later in the story from the perspective of the now-older man, everything being tied together in a completely self-consistent way.

In 1941, Private Robert E. Lee Prewitt ( Montgomery Clift ), a bugler, is transferred from the Bugle Corps at Fort Shafter ( giving up his corporal stripes ) to a rifle outfit, Company " G ," at Schofield Barracks on the island of Oahu.

The term appears to have been coined by John W. Campbell, Jr., the editor of Astounding Science Fiction, in the February 1941 issue of that magazine, in reference to Robert A. Heinlein's Future History.

A similar quotation appears in Robert A. Heinlein's 1941 short story " Logic of Empire " (" You have attributed conditions to villainy that simply result from stupidity "); this was noticed in 1996 ( five years before Bigler identified the Robert J. Hanlon citation ) and first referenced in version 4. 0. 0 of the Jargon File, with speculation that Hanlon's Razor might be a corruption of " Heinlein's Razor ".

This was followed by refutation of the anti-German ( as opposed to anti-Nazi ) doctrine of Sir Robert Vansittart in the pamphlet Shall Our Children Live or Die published in late 1941.

At least one other work by Zweig received a musical setting: the pianist and composer Henry Jolles, who like Zweig had fled to Brazil to escape the Nazis, composed a song, " Último poema de Stefan Zweig ", based on " Letztes Gedicht ", which Zweig wrote on the occasion of his 60th birthday in November 1941.

Romain Rolland and others wrote to Stalin seeking clemency for Nikolai Bukharin, but all the leading defendants were executed except Rakovsky and two others ( who were killed in NKVD prisoner massacres in 1941 ).

In addition, writers born outside Wales, who have both lived in as well as written about Wales, are often included, such as John Cowper Powys ( 1872 – 1963 ), who settled in Wales in 1935 and wrote two major novels, Owen Glendower ( 1941 ) and Porius ( 1949 ), that have Welsh subject matter.

Then there is the poet, teacher, and critic Jeremy Hooker ( born 1941 ), who taught at the University of Wales, Aberystwyth from 1965 – 84 and became deeply involved in writing about and teaching Welsh writing in English during this time, though he wrote only a few poems with Welsh subject matter.

This, among other reasons, resulted in a letter which Toscanini wrote on March 10, 1941 to RCA's David Sarnoff.
