Cornelius Cardew ( 7 May 193613 December 1981 ) was an English experimental music composer, and founder ( with Howard Skempton and Michael Parsons ) of the Scratch Orchestra, an experimental performing ensemble.

McMaster was an original member of the intermedia group First Draft, ( 1981 -), with members including Andrew McClure, Colin Morton, Alrick Huebener, Roberta Huebener, Claude Dupuis, Peter Thomas, and David Parsons.

She received many awards including honorary doctorates from California Institute of Arts ( 1981 ), Occidental College ( 1984 ), Otis Parsons College ( 1989 ), and the Juilliard School ( 1993 ).

Parsons had written a number of novels including The Kids ( 1976 ), Platinum Logic ( 1981 ) and Limelight Blues ( 1983 ), before he found mainstream success by focussing on the tribulations of thirty-something men.
