* 533 – Byzantine general Belisarius defeats the Vandals, commanded by King Gelimer, at the Battle of Ticameron.

In 533, Belisarius with a fleet of 92 dromons escorting 500 transports, landed at Caput Vada ( modern Ras Kaboudia ) in modern Tunisia with an army of about 15, 000 men, as well as a number of barbarian troops.

They defeated the Vandals, who were caught completely off-guard, at Ad Decimum on 14 September 533 and Tricamarum in December ; Belisarius took Carthage.

The Byzantine army under General Belisarius might have removed it in 533 and brought it to Constantinople.

It was recovered by the Byzantine general Belisarius in 533, along with the other Vandal possessions, and remained a part of the Byzantine province of Sicily for the next 340 years.

In June 533, Justinian sent an expeditionary force commanded by Belisarius which finally reached Africa in the beginning of September.

On 14 September 533, Belisarius entered Carthage and ate the feast prepared for Gelimer in his palace.

However, Gelimer had escaped the Roman pursuit, and on the return of Tzazo from Sardinia the combined Vandal army met Belisarius in battle, this time at a place called Tricamarum about 20 miles from Carthage ( December 533 ).

The Battle of Ad Decimum took place on September 13, 533 between the armies of the Vandals, commanded by King Gelimer, and the Eastern Roman Empire ( Byzantine Empire ), under the command of general Belisarius.

The Battle of Tricamarum took place on December 15, 533 between the armies of the Vandals, commanded by King Gelimer, and his brother Tzazon, and the eastern Roman Empire ( later referred to as the Byzantine Empire ), under the command of General Belisarius.

Belisarius, general of the Byzantine emperor Justinian I based in Constantinople, landed in North Africa in 533 with 16, 000 men and within a year destroyed the Vandal kingdom.
