The first volume, Beelzebub's Tales to His Grandson, is a lengthy allegorical work that recounts the explanations of Beelzebub to his grandson concerning the beings of the planet Earth.

He was appointed by Gurdjieff as his representative to publish Beelzebub's Tales, and then to lead the Work in North America.

Three books by Gurdjieff were published in the English language in the United States after his death: Beelzebub's Tales to His Grandson published in 1950 by E. P. Dutton & Co. Inc., Meetings with Remarkable Men, published in 1963 by E. P. Dutton & Co. Inc., and Life is Real Only Then, When ' I Am ', printed privately by E. P. Dutton & Co. and published in 1978 by Triangle Editions Inc. for private distribution only.

Beelzebub's Tales to His Grandson or An Objectively Impartial Criticism of the Life of Man is the first volume of the All and Everything trilogy written by the Greek-Armenian mystic G. I. Gurdjieff.

The plot of Beelzebub's Tales primarily revolves around the ruminations of an extraterrestrial known as " Beelzebub " to his grandson Hassein, as they travel through space towards Beelzebub's home planet " Karatas " on the spaceship Karnak.

Beelzebub's Tales is included in Martin Seymour-Smith's 100 Most Influential Books Ever Written, with the comment that it is "... the most convincing fusion of Eastern and Western thought has yet been seen.

Bennett learnt of Gurdjieff's writings, and read " Beelzebub's Tales To His Grandson " for the first time.

Bennett wished to execute Gurdjieff's last directives literally, by disseminating his ideas and writings as widely as possible, especially Beelzebub's Tales to his Grandson, which Madame de Salzmann wanted to keep away from the public eye.

Proponents of the continued viability of Gurdjieff's system, and its study through the use of groups, however, point to Gurdjieff's insistence on the training of initiates in interpreting and disseminating the ideas that he expressed cryptically in Beelzebub's Tales to His Grandson.

This, combined with Gurdjieff's almost fanatical dedication to the completion of this text ( Beelzebub's Tales ), suggest that Gurdjieff himself intended his ideas to continue to be practiced and taught long after his death.

" Beelzebub's pup " was an early vernacular name given to it by the explorers of Tasmania, in reference to a religious deity who is a prince of hell and an assistant of Satan ; the explorers first encountered the animal by hearing its far-reaching vocalisations at night.

He appears to be light skinned when interacting with white characters, but the people of Tales in the Sands primordial African city see him as a star-eyed black man.

Within Haida mythology, Raven is a central character, as he is for many of the Indigenous peoples of the Americas, see Raven Tales.

In Geoffrey Chaucer's The Canterbury Tales, one of the characters is a summoner ( see " The Summoner's Tale "); a Middle English spelling is Somonour.

A variant of this song appears on the Eric Woolfson album Edgar Allan Poe ( 2009 ) ( see Poe: More Tales of Mystery and Imagination ) which contains the complete music from Woolfson's 2003 stage musical of the same name.

Also carried over from Tales of Destiny was the voice-acted face chats ( skits ), but now the user simply needs to push select on the world map to see them, rather than stand still for awhile on the world map as in ToD.

Here it is also possible to see the influence of older story-telling elements such as Grimm's Fairy Tales where children learn about the dangers of allowing strangers into the home.

As an example, the house of Elves called " Teleri " in The Book of Lost Tales is not the same as that in The Silmarillion ( see Teleri ).

Parsons released titles under his name ( Try Anything Once, On Air, The Time Machine, and A Valid Path ), while Woolfson made concept albums named Freudiana ( about Sigmund Freud's work on psychology ) and Poe: More Tales of Mystery and Imagination ( continuing from the Alan Parsons Project's first album about Edgar Allan Poe's literature ).

Also, while Chaucer clearly states the addressees of many of his poems ( the Book of the Duchess is believed to have been written for John of Gaunt on the occasion of his wife's death in 1368 ), the intended audience of The Canterbury Tales is more difficult to determine.

Jones also produced the 1979 film The Bugs Bunny / Road Runner Movie which was a compilation of Jones ' best theatrical shorts ; Jones produced new Road Runner shorts for The Electric Company series and Bugs Bunny's Looney Christmas Tales ( 1979 ), and even newer shorts were made for Bugs Bunny's Bustin ' Out All Over ( 1980 ).

Glorantha has been, so far, the background for 2 board-games ( White Bear and Red Moon / Dragon Pass and Nomad Gods ), two role-playing games ( RuneQuest and HeroQuest ), one video game ( King of Dragon Pass ), one comic book series ( Path of the Damned ), five novels or collections of fiction ( King of Sartar by Greg Stafford, The Collected / Complete Griselda by Oliver Dickinson, Gloranthan Visions by various authors, The Widow's Tale and Eurhol's Vale & Other Tales by Penelope Love, and numerous pieces of myth and fiction created by the Glorantha community, featuring in magazines such as Tales of the Reaching Moon.

Even in relatively new story collection translated as Russian 19th Century Gothic Tales ( from 1984 ), the editor used the name „ Фантастический мир русской романтической повести “ ( The Fantastic World of Russian Romanticism Short Story / Novella ).

Lovecraft's protégé, Robert Bloch, contributed to Weird Tales and penned Psycho ( 1959 ), which drew on the classic interests of the genre.

While his stories appeared in the pages of prominent pulp magazines such as Weird Tales ( eliciting letters of outrage as often as letters of praise from regular readers of the magazines ), not many people knew his name.

Around the same time, he appeared in two episodes of a twist-in-the-tale episode of the British TV series, Tales of the Unexpected, with Wendy Hiller ( 1979 ), and Gloria Grahame ( 1980 ).

For Weird Tales ( November 1950 ), Freas did his first fantasy magazine cover, illustrating H. Russell Wakefield's " The Third Shadow " with his painting " The Piper ".

The first, and possibly the most important academic collection to focus in this area was James Orchard Halliwell's, The Nursery Rhymes of England ( 1842 ) and Popular Rhymes and Tales in 1849, in which he divided rhymes into antiquities ( historical ), fireside stories, game-rhymes, alphabet-rhymes, riddles, nature-rhymes, places and families, proverbs, superstitions, customs, and nursery songs ( lullabies ).

Rudyard Kipling published short story collections for grown-ups, e. g. Plain Tales from the Hills ( 1888 ), as well as for children, e. g. The Jungle Book ( 1894 ).
