In stanza 17 of the Poetic Edda poem Völuspá, the völva reciting the poem states that Hœnir, Lóðurr and Odin once found Ask and Embla on land.

In stanza 17 of Grímnismál, during Odin's visions of various dwelling places of the gods, he describes Víðarr's ( here anglicized as " Vidar ") residence:

The first stanza of " Indonesia Raya " was chosen as the national anthem when Indonesia proclaimed its independence at 17 August 1945.

In stanza 39, Helgi, now in Valhalla, has his former enemy Hunding — also in Valhalla — do menial tasks ; fetching foot-baths for all of the men there, kindling fire, tying dogs, keeping watch of horses, and feeding the pigs before he can get any sleep.

In the stanza that follows, Helgi asks the valkyries ( who he refers to as " southern goddesses ") if they would like to come home with the warriors when night falls ( all the while arrows were flying ).

The staff, or stanza, is four to ten lines that join without intermission and finish up all of the sentences thereof.

The last line of this stanza, which is the last line of all four stanzas of the poem, was the inspiration for the song title " Always True to You in My Fashion " from Kiss Me, Kate by Cole Porter.

In the poem, with five original stanzas, a " thunderous call " is made for all Germans to rush and defend the German Rhine, to ensure that " no enemy sets his foot on the shore of the Rhine " ( 4th stanza ).

Even some fairly innocuous lines (" Let us all thy Life receive ," stanza 3 )

" High then quotes stanza 19 of Völuspá, and states that two swans feed from the well, from which all other swans descend.

There is a handwritten note by Smith in the Louise Arner Boyd Collection archived by the Marin History Museum featuring all the original verses to the song with the additional stanza on the reverse of the notepaper.

" Alongside the stanza referred to, Burns also presented Lawrie's daughters with verses describing his visits to Loudoun Manse and on one window pane in the manse, scratched the following line with his diamond, " Lovely Mrs. Lawrie, she is all charms.

In the third stanza, Pound is said to have listened to the song of Homer's Syrens ( quoted in Greek: " Ιδμεν γαρ τοι πανθ, οσ ενι Τροιη "-" We know all the things that belong to Troy "), to have confronted dangers and ignored the warnings of the prudent.

The metrical form of the Monk's Tale is the most complex of all the pilgrims ': An eight-line stanza rhyming ababbcbc.

The poem is also skeptical of the Devil's existence and of his intentions to punish sinners for all eternity as in the stanza.
