Enchanted Rock, a designated state natural area and popular tourist destination, is located in southern Llano county.

The area was first mentioned in Republic of Texas documents in 1842, when approximately 416, 000 aces of the present county were included in the Fisher-Miller Land Grant, which extended from the Llano River to the Colorado River.

The surface of the lake includes area in both Burnet County and Llano County.

The erosion of these rivers has now defined the area of the Llano Estacado, separating it from its Rocky Mountain sources and from other parts of the High Plains.

Only in the Llano Estacado area has the formation of the Caprock given rise to a prominent, distinctive, palisade-like escarpment, as well as to a remarkably flat surface.

The El Llano chapel is located in the agricultural center of the area.

The airport was initially named " Llano Grande ", due to the name of the area that it was built in.

The route continues due east through Texas South Plains farmland, passing through Tahoka, before falling off the Llano Estacado and reaching Post.

Ralls is located on the level plains of the Llano Estacado between Lorenzo to the west and Crosbyton to the east.

To the south of Ralls is the Caprock Escarpment which marks the break between the Llano Estacado and the rolling plains carved by the tributaries of the Brazos River.

To the east, the Caprock Escarpment, a precipitous cliff about high, lies between the Llano and the red Permian plains of Texas ; while to the west, the Mescalero Escarpment demarcates the edge of the Pecos River valley.

Enchanted Rock State Natural Area, which includes Enchanted Rock and surrounding land, spans the border between Gillespie County and Llano County, south of the Llano River.
