A two-part return to the Mirror Universe, made popular by The Original Series and Deep Space Nine, titled " In a Mirror, Darkly ," was made late in the fourth season, which took place in the parallel dimension.

The story was " continued " by means of the first " Mirror Universe " anthology published in 2007 by Pocket Books.

Other possible plans for the season included: an episode showing the construction of the first starbase ; a Borg Queen origins story with Alice Krige as a Starfleet medical technician who makes contact with the Borg from Season 2's " Regeneration " and becomes the Borg Queen, and a Mirror Universe arc spanning four or five episodes.

In the Mirror Universe, Odo is the supervisor of the mining complex at Terok Nor.

In the Mirror Universe, the Cardassians formed an alliance with the Klingon Empire in order to conquer the Terran Empire.

The actions Q took in sending the Enterprise D to System J-25 — and thus maintaining the time loop, are expanded upon in the Star Trek novels as being partially ( though indirectly ) the reason for the existence of the Mirror Universe, explaining that Zefram Cochrane attempted to warn Earth and the worlds that would become part of the Federation about the Borg after First Contact.

In the Mirror Universe, Sato held the rank of Lieutenant.

The Romulans did not appear on screen in the Mirror Universe.

Benjamin Sisko, impersonating his Mirror Universe counterpart, claims that he is going to negotiate with the Romulans to secure their aid for the Terran Rebellion, suggesting that the Romulans are a significant power.

In the TOS episode " Mirror, Mirror ," Spock of the Mirror Universe performed a forced mind meld on Dr. Leonard McCoy in order to learn what McCoy was keeping secret.

" This choice led one reviewer to question if Fringes plot might be a homage to the Star Trek episode " Mirror, Mirror ", which featured an alternate reality " Mirror Universe " concept and an evil version of Spock distinguished by a goatee.

Mirror Universe,

The classic Star Trek episode " Mirror, Mirror " introduced the Mirror Universe, in which the crew members of the Starship Enterprise were brutal rather than compassionate.

In the novel version of the Mirror Universe created by Diane Duane, Barclay is Captain Picard's personal guard.

Kirk reportedly assassinated Pike to become captain of the ISS Enterprise ( the Mirror Universe version of the USS Enterprise ).

He also appears in the novel Dark Victory ( William Shatner, 1999 ), and the short story " The Greater Good " ( Margaret Wander Bonanno ) in the anthology Star Trek: Mirror Universe: Shards and Shadows ( 2009 ).

The Tholians of " The Tholian Web " are depicted and described, in that episode and later in the Star Trek: Enterprise episode " In a Mirror, Darkly " as being primarily of mineral-based composition and thriving only in superheated conditions.

This is often cited as the first interracial kiss depicted on a scripted television series, but took place after Sammy Davis, Jr. had briefly kissed Nancy Sinatra on the variety program Movin ' With Nancy in December 1967 ; and an interracial kiss on Emergency Ward 10, a British drama series, in 1964 ; a kiss between Asian American actress, Victoria Young and David McCallum in the 1966 The Man from U. N. C. L. E episode, " The Her Master's Voice Affair ;" September 16th, 1966, and a kiss between multi-racial actress Barbara Luna and William Shatner in the October 6th, 1967 Star Trek episode, " Mirror, Mirror, Star Trek: The Original Series.

Titian's Venus with a Mirror, c. 1555, is an early example of Venus depicted at her toilet with Cupid.

The story, " Age of the Empress " was crafted by Mike Sussman, the writer of " In a Mirror, Darkly.

The theme song, as well as the opening credits, were altered for two back-to-back episodes in season 4 entitled " In a Mirror, Darkly ", which take place in an alternate mirror universe.

According to a computer bio screen, barely visible in the episode " In a Mirror, Darkly ", and taken from the memory banks of the USS Defiant, Sato was born in Kyoto, Japan.

According to a computer display in the episode " In a Mirror, Darkly ", historian John Gill considered Archer " the greatest explorer of the 22nd century.

Archer's fate is revealed in the episode " In a Mirror, Darkly Part II " when a computer information screen aboard the 23rd century Starfleet vessel USS Defiant is briefly visible.

A two-part episode of Star Trek: Enterprise, entitled " In a Mirror, Darkly ", serves as a prequel, introducing the early developments of the Mirror Universe.

Footage of Cromwell from Star Trek: First Contact was used in the Enterprise episode " In a Mirror, Darkly ( Part I )", along with new footage of an identically-dressed actor whose face is not shown.
