A short length of Battle Bridge Road survives, but Cheney Road was largely removed to accommodate a realignment of Pancras Road that was originally to run to the east of the German Gymnasium, but now runs between St Pancras railway station and the German Gymnasium.

To the east of this were additional galleries, the decoration of which was the work of another designer Owen Jones, these were the Oriental Courts ( covering India, China and Japan ) completed in 1863, none of this decoration survives, part of these galleries became the new galleries covering the 19th century, opened in December 2006.

Brantingham still survives as a hamlet within the boundaries of Greig, as a postal identity and for Brantingham Lake, to the east of town.

The priory church survives today in a fragmentary state, dominated by the east wall of the presbytery that still stands to its full height.

The pre-Revolutionary farm of James Delancey to the east of the post road leading from the city ( The Bowery ) survives in the name of Delancey Street and, dimly, in Orchard Street.

Today only one other part of the Tudor mansion survives: the great tower in the centre of the east facade ( see illustration above ).

By 1800 the castle was surrounded by shipyards, but today only Fergusons shipyard survives, standing close to the west of the castle, and an open park area and waterfront walkway have been landscaped to the east.

O ' Callaghan's legacy as Nevada politician and philanthropist survives through three structures that bear his name. Mike O ' Callaghan Middle School opened on the east side of Las Vegas in 1991.

The chancel is of three bays but only one of the six Norman lancet windows, that at the east end of the north wall, survives unaltered.

In the USA, 30 miles east of Los Angeles where winter temps can dip to 10 degrees F (- 12 C ) for short several-hour periods, the mature tree survives with little or no visible damage.

The equivalent North Field lay between West Hill and the River Thames and survives in the short road named Northfields which runs to the east of Wandsworth Park.

It was by-passed to the west by the London and South Western Railway ( the surviving main line ) and to the north by the Alton, Alresford and Winchester Railway, part of which survives to the east as the Watercress Line.

A stone gable and arch entrance survives at the south east corner of the dock from a warehouse built by Jesse Hartley.

The Yangtze valley was flooded during the first decade of the 21st century after the construction of the Three Gorges Dam to the east, but Badong county seat was mostly above the flood line, and so more of the original town survives than is the case in many other river towns along this section of the Yangtze.

Turkey's First Geography Congress in 1941 created two regions to the east of the Gulf of Iskenderun-Black Sea line named the Eastern Anatolia Region and the Southeastern Anatolia Region, the former largely corresponding to the western part of the Armenian Highland, the latter to the northern part of the Mesopotamian plain.

The Neo-Assyrian Empire ( 911-605BCE ) was probably the most dominant power on earth between the 10th Century BCE and the late 7th Century BCE, with an empire stretching from Cyprus in the west to central Iran in the east, and from the Caucasus mountains in the north to Nubia, Egypt and Arabia in the south, facilitating the spread of Mesopotamian culture and religion far and wide under emperors such as Ashurbanipal, Tukulti-Ninurta, Tiglath-Pileser, Shalmanesser IV, Sargon II, Sennacherib and Esarhaddon.

This and the fact that the Persians and Medes to the east were growing in power now that the might of Assyria that had held them in vassalage for centuries was gone, spelt the death knell for native Mesopotamian power.

This brought to an end over 3000 years of Mesopotamian dominance of the near east.

Throughout this entire period both Assyria and Babylonia continued to exist as geo political entities and named regions, and Assyria in particular became a center of a distinctly Mesopotamian Christianity, namely the ancient Eastern Syrian Rite Christianity which was spread all over the near east and as far away as central Asia, India, Mongolia and China by travelling monks and still exists as the religion of the Assyrians to this day in the form of the Assyrian Church of the East, Chaldean Catholic Church and Ancient Church of the East.

A fairly large area () just above the confluence of the two rivers at Al Qurnah and extending east of the Tigris beyond the Iranian border is marshland, known as Hawr al Hammar, the result of centuries of flooding and inadequate drainage.

The two branches rejoin or are linked several times, but finally recombine around the town of Fordwich, on the edge of the marshland north east of the city.

To the east there are a few scattered spots of marshland, while the area is mostly coined by dunes.

The area was once marshland and forest which, as Bishopswood, lingered in the east until the 16th century.

Originally concieved in 1896 by the Fairview Land Company on 900 acres of marshland, and formally incorporated as a village in 1903, its boundaries were Berwick to the west, Mack to the north, Cadiuex to the east, and the Detroit River to the south.

The town of Eye derives its name from the Old English word for ' island ' and it is believed that the first settlement on the site would have been almost entirely surrounded by water and marshland formed by the River Dove to the east and south east ; its tributary to the north ; and by the low land, part of which now forms the Town Moor, to the south and west.

This is why the core of the island, which a thousand years ago was still surrounded by a large, low-lying marshland and sand dunes separated from coast in the east only by narrow channels, has remained to this day, although the onset of the North Sea has long eroded away all of its surroundings.

Here, the route turns south and becomes Spruce Avenue, which heads between marshland to the west and resort homes to the east.

The main campus is bordered to the north by Cootes Paradise, an extensive natural marshland, to the east and west by residential neighbourhoods, and to its south by Main Street West, a major transportation artery.

It was also, in many places, difficult terrain, with woodland, heath and mountain over much of the centre and large areas of marshland to the east.

The abbey is situated in the suburbs of south east London, in the north of an ancient but long-managed Lesnes Abbey Woods that are named after it, where the land rises above what would originally have been marshland.

Padukka, which is part of the Avissawella electorate is situated 33 kilometers east of Colombo, the commercial capital of Sri Lanka, and on the bank of Pusweli Oya on a high ground surrounded by marshland.

SR 202 begins at US 1 ( Phillips Highway ) and starts its run east as a divided, four lane surface street, going east towards I-95 and becoming a freeway, passing through mostly marshland as it heads east towards exits including SR 115, I-295, before ending at SR A1A.

The Pontine Marshes, termed in Latin Pomptinus Ager by Titus Livius, Pomptina Palus ( singular ) and Pomptinae Paludes ( plural ) by Pliny the Elder, today the Agro Pontino in Italian, is an approximately quadrangular area of former marshland in the Lazio Region of Central Italy, extending along the coast southeast of Rome about from just east of Anzio to Terracina ( ancient Tarracina ), varying in distance inland between the Tyrrhenian Sea and the Volscian Mountains ( the Monti Lepini in the north, the Monti Ausoni in the center and the Monti Aurunci in the south ) from to The northwestern border runs approximately from the mouth of the river Astura along the river and from its upper reaches to Cori in the Monti Lepini.
