The first processors using the Clipper architecture were designed and sold by Fairchild, but the division responsible for them was subsequently sold to Intergraph in 1987 ; Intergraph continued work on Clipper processors for use in its own systems.

Intergraph started work on a subsequent Clipper processor design known as the C5, but this was never completed or released.

They introduced the commercial version of PseudoStation in 1985, which allowed users of Intergraph's VAX systems to use low-cost graphics terminals to view and modify the designs on their Intergraph IGDS ( Interactive Graphics Design System ) installations.

This version was branded both Intergraph ( on CLIX ) and Bentley MicroStation ( on PC ).

This was the last version to run on Intergraph CLIX.

Nonetheless, some advanced processor design techniques were devised for the C5, and Intergraph was granted patents on these.

The “ Next ” phase brought additional focus to Intergraph ’ s business, allowing the company to redeploy assets and resources to further invest in its differentiated capabilities and focus on the areas of business and technology that provided the greatest value.

Now in the “ After Next ” phase, Intergraph is focused on growth.

Most recently, on October 28, 2010, Intergraph was acquired by Hexagon AB.

DB13W3 ( 13W3 ) is a particular style of D-subminiature connector commonly used as an analog video interface connector that was used primarily on Sun Microsystems, Silicon Graphics and IBM RISC workstations, as well as some displays from Apple Computer, NeXT Computer and Intergraph Corporation.

* Up until 2000, all DGN files were based on the Intergraph Standard File Formats ( ISFF ) specification, published in the late 1980s by Intergraph.

This version introduced a host of new features: Accudraw, dockable dialogs, Smartline, revised view controls, movie generation, and the ability to use two application windows ( similar to previous Linux driven Intergraph terminals that were dubbed the " Double-Headed Monster ").

ISFF is made available to the public, so that third-party developers could create applications for MicroStation that read and write ISFF format without a license from Intergraph.

In cases where there is potential for confusion, ISFF-based DGN may be called Intergraph DGN, or V7 DGN.

It filed for protection under Chapter 11 of the Federal Bankruptcy Code in 1990 and was acquired by Intergraph later that year.

Intergraph adopted CLIX for its Clipper-based systems and continued to develop it ; this was the only operating system available for those systems.

Intergraph Clipper C4 ( C400 ) CPU

The architecture never enjoyed much market success, and the only computer manufacturers to create major product lines using Clipper processors were Intergraph and High Level Hardware.

These patents, along with the original Clipper patents, have been the basis of patent-infringement lawsuits by Intergraph against Intel and other companies.

Intergraph sold several generations of Clipper systems, including both servers and workstations.

They chose the state-of-the-art Clipper Module from Fairchild Camera and Instrument Corporation ( now Intergraph Corporation ) as a base for their computer system.
