The writings of Christian ascetic Isaac of Nineveh ( d. 700 ), reflect several perspectives which include mortalism.
He is to be distinguished from Isaac of Nineveh, a Nestorian writer on the ascetic life who belongs to the second half of the 7th century.

The young Alexios IV was strangled in prison, while his father Isaac died shortly afterwards, his death variously attributed to fright, sorrow, or foul play.
