While the former is considered indispensable evidence of one's baptism by the Holy Ghost ( as spoken of in Isaiah 28: 11, John 3: 5 ; also Matthew 3: 11, Acts 1: 5, 2: 4, 10: 45 – 46 and 19: 6, according to UPCI doctrine ), the latter gift is not necessarily held by all believers once they have initially spoken in tongues. The God of Israel himself is frequently described as sitting on a throne in the Psalms, and in a vision Isaiah ( 6: 1 ), and notably in Isaiah 66: 1, YHWH says of himself " The heaven is my throne, and the earth is my footstool " ( this verse is alluded to by Matthew 5: 34-35 ).

The statement in Matthew 1: 22: " All this happened to fulfil what the Lord had spoken by the prophet " does not mention the prophet Isaiah in 4th century documents such as the Codex Sinaiticus, but some 5-6th century manuscripts of Matthew, such as Codex Bezae, read " Isaiah the prophet ".
