( Isaiah was the most popular prophet among the Dead Sea collection: 21 copies of the scroll were found in Qumran.

Jewish and Christian tradition held that the entire book is by the 8th century BCE prophet Isaiah, but scholars have concluded since the late 19th century that it cannot be by a single author.

Isaiah is mentioned as a prophet in Ibn kathir's Stories of the Prophets and the modern writers Muhammad Asad and Abdullah Yusuf Ali accepted Isaiah as a true Hebrew prophet, who preached to the Israelites following the death of King David.

Amoz (; ) was the father of the prophet Isaiah, mentioned in Isaiah 1: 1 and 2: 1, and in II Kings 19: 2, 20 ; 20: 1.

Chapter 14 of the Book of Isaiah refers to what Jewish exegesis of the prophetic vision of Isaiah 14: 12-15 identifies as King Nebuchadnezzar II ; the Hebrew word says " Helel ben Shaḥar " (" the shining one, son of the morning ").

Mainstream Christianity holds Isaiah Chapter 50: Verse 6 as a prophecy of Christ's crucifixion, and as so, as a description of Christ having his beard plucked by his tormentors.

Scholars have identified Taharqa with Tirhakah, king of Ethiopia, who waged war against Sennacherib during the reign of King Hezekiah of Judah ( 2 Kings 19: 9 ; Isaiah 37: 9 ) and drove him from his intention of destroying Jerusalem and deporting its inhabitants — a critical action that, according to Henry T. Aubin, has shaped the Western world.

Hezekiah was the king whose actions prompted the Babylonians to take the Jews into captivity, as prophesied in Isaiah 38 and mentioned in the genealogy at Verse 11.

" 12: 2 Isaiah says: " Your dead will live.

The God of Israel himself is frequently described as sitting on a throne in the Psalms, and in a vision Isaiah ( 6: 1 ), and notably in Isaiah 66: 1, YHWH says of himself " The heaven is my throne, and the earth is my footstool " ( this verse is alluded to by Matthew 5: 34-35 ).

This refers ( or, at least, is referred ) to the beginning of the book of the prophet Isaiah, where he says: " The ox knoweth his owner, and the ass his master's crib.

At the Last Supper, Jesus alludes to this prophecy, as well as to prophecies such as Isaiah 49: 8, when he says that the cup of the Passover meal is " the New Covenant in blood.

Frequently cited is, " by his stripes we are healed ", and, which says that Jesus healed the sick so that " it might be fulfilled which was spoken by Isaiah the Prophet, ' Himself took our infirmities, and bore our sicknesses '.

And Isaiah the prophet says in his fortieth chapter: " To whom have ye likened the Lord?

The first portion of the name is derived from Isaiah 56: 7 where God says: " Mine house shall be called a house of prayer for all people.

" The only way to get this peace is to trust in the Jewish God, YHWH, as Isaiah says, " The steadfast of mind You will keep in perfect peace, because he trusts in You.

Only with the Jewish God is there peace, as Isaiah writes, "' There is no peace ,' says the Lord, ' for the wicked.
